Anti depressant and sugar link
Depression has a definite role in diabetes management. It was my personal experience. When I stopped taking medicine HbA1c slowly crept up from 6.4 to more than 7.Discuss with your doctor.Personally,I would not stop the medicine unless you are out o depression or your diabetes management is too good.
Do my incresed level of sugar is a result of my anti depressant......plz reply
I am sharing my experience.I stopped anti depressant a during the course of next year,HbA1c slowly crept up. This was about six years ago and I do not have the records.Sugar level came down again after I restarted anti depressant.By any chance do you hava sleeping problems? That is another reason for sugar spike.

Sertraline (generic name) Zoloft (brand name) is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (bothersome thoughts that won't go away and the need to perform certain actions over and over), panic attacks (sudden, unexpected attacks of extreme fear and worry about these attacks), posttraumatic stress disorder (disturbing psychological symptoms that develop after a frightening experience), and social anxiety disorder (extreme fear of interacting with others or performing in front of others that interferes with normal life). It is also used to relieve the symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder, including mood swings, irritability, bloating, and breast tenderness. Sertraline is in a class of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by increasing the amounts of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.
If you have diabetes, sertraline can make it more difficult to keep your blood sugar stable. Monitor your blood sugar more often for the first few weeks of treatment with sertraline and adjust your diabetes treatment if necessary.
Consult your doctor.
