Hi Mann43 ,

When was your last appointment with your doctor? Did he/she tell you to count your carbs for each meal and snack? How many carbs are you allowed to have for each meal and snack? Are you on medication? Medication and insulin together? Insulin on its own?

Point is,once you consume high carb meal resulting in a pike in BS,it does take time to bring it down, provided you consume carb restricted food afterwards. There will be lingering effect after each high carb diet unless you do something about it.

In an healthy person, the blood sugar level will become normal within 2 hours. In a diabetic patient, the increase of sugar level above 200 mg/dL is immediate and it will come down to a normal level slowly by eliminating blood sugar along with urine. The duration of hyperglycemia will depend on the quantity of insulin produced and the insulin resistance of each person.
