There is no simple answer for this question. We should constantly be aware of what is the position of what and how much we have eaten and how much we should eat at any given point of time.Decision should be strictly need based.

Risks from low blood sugar include seizure, coma, or even death if left untreated. On the other hand, depending on the individual, fasting without using insulin can result in high blood sugars or in diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious diabetes complication caused by blood build-up of acids called ketones).

@qamarmba61....Periodic Fasting is good, but care has to be taken to avoid hypos by controlling quantum of diabetic medicines..Fasting has some advantages like giving time to body organs for repair works.

Fasting is not allowed if you are under treatment. It is not going to help you in the long run at all. You have to be on a regular diet and check parameters for glycemic control.

Fasting is most effective to manage sugar level provided you are not taking any medicine. I take only one meal daily no breakfast no dinner since last six years. I am diabetic from last 17 year's. I check bs at home never visited Dr since last eight years.

Am type 2 diabetic for the past 10 + years and my latest HbA1c is 5.8. Doing 12 fasting on Monday and Thursday for the past 11 months. Fasting guide lines are mostly followed as suggested by Doctor Jason Fung ( Intensive dietary management) . On fasting days no oral medicine. 57 years old. Not finding any adverse effects. Enjoying life. If the administration allows , medical reports can be shared. Did the testing TAMIL PALEO AA1.7 Plus PLA from Thyrocare.
