Hi I have fh high colestarol and am also anemic. My colestarol was checked 15/06/2017 and was 7.8. My doctor says that is very high and has changed my meds from Simvacor 20mg to Inegy 10/40. I am a bit concerned as I also have high blood pressure. I have come down from 81kg in January to 76kg. What advice you you have for me.

Desirable level corresponding to lower risk for heart disease is 5.2 mmol/L (304 mg/dL). You have high risk with reference to high blood pressure and compared with your age.

Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking simvastatin (generic name) Simvacor (brand name).

Lifestyle changes can help you control and prevent high blood pressure — even if you're taking blood pressure medication.

Here's what you can do:--

* Eat healthy foods.

* Decrease the salt in your diet.

* Maintain a healthy weight.

* Increase physical activity.

* Limit alcohol.

* Don't smoke.

* Manage stress.

* Monitor your blood pressure at home.

* Practice relaxation or slow, deep breathing.

Adopt DASH diet (Mediterranean diet). Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk,

fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.

Please note that I am not a medical professional. Please consult your doctor and get his advice for any doubts.

Just how does your doctor know that 7.8 is high for you? The truth is that he doesn't; no two people are the same. There may be a contributary factor and that is some slight damage to blood vessels caused by poor food or manufactured food. Cholesterol is a material that rushes to injury to carry out repair; sugar is the number one cause, not in fruit but in manufactured products.

Try asking your doctor how he knows and he will say something like, "it is recognised that etc, etc.

High blood pressure can be reduced by increasing the volume of water drunk during a day, my wife has proved it. Have a look at: healthscams.org.uk/the-impo... This is far better than drugs.

If you'd like to see the effects of various drugs have on the body have a look at: healthscams.org.uk/vitamin-... I find it frightening.
