My HBAIC reads 7.14% but on the result sheet, it says diabetic ranges from 8.0% and above.

Have you talked to your doctor about the results in person or on the phone? Did they say you were type 1, 2 or LADA (1.5)? Did you have any symptoms of becoming diabetic before they ran the A1c test? Do you do an exercise routine each day? Do you count the carbs at each meal and/or snack you eat during the day? This may help bring the A1c down slightly.

Please check out the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation's website for their free leaflets on Diabetes. Go to: drwf.org.uk/understanding-d...

All leaflets can be downloaded, read and/or listened to at anytime. I hope this helps! :-)

You must try to keep HbA1c level below 7%.

Dr Mark Houston: By the time your blood sugar is in the high-normal range you’ve already lost a lot of your insulin production. So you’ve gotta back it up and say ‘what’s really a normal fasting blood sugar’? It’s somewhere around 75-80 mg/dL (4.2-4.5 mmol/L). In the US, our upper limit for fasting blood sugar is 99 mg/dL (5.5 mmol/L) so if you’re at 99 mg/dL you’re already at risk for CVD. And, it’s a 1:1 ratio, so if you’re at 100 mg/dL (5.5 mmol/L) you’re at almost 20-25% greater risk for having a heart attack. If you do a post prandial blood sugar or a 2 hour Glucose Tolerance Test it’s even worse and now becomes a 2:1 ratio.
