Hi alok5958 and welcome to Diabetes India!

The only case where a diabetes type 2 will "change" into a type 1 is in the case of a type 1.5 also called LADA for Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (see healthunlocked.com/drwfdiab... for more detailed explanation about it).

A patient with diabetes type 2 should not be treated with insulin at all as the manifestation of type 2 is insulin RESISTANCE. Like someone on another website put it, treating type 2 diabetes with insulin is like treating alcoholism with martinis. The best way to reduce the insulin resistance is to start exercising - you don't have to run a marathon after the 1st week, start walking regularly at least ½ an hour every day at least 5 days per week, slowly increasing your pace.

Obviously avoiding junk food and snacks in paramount as well, as well as replacing refined carbs by fibber rich foods (mostly vegies and fruits).

By following those basic rules you very likely will never have to take insulin and might even get off the oral meds you most likely got prescribed.

The above misconceptions and misdirections lead to patients developing serious Diabetic Complications.

The very explanation of Diabetes itself is 'Its a chronic metabolic disorder with hyperglycemia developing due to either Insulin resistance or insulin deficiency or both.

Generally patients develop diabetes when there is 50_70% of betacell dysfunction devepes.

So first evaluate the patients. Overweight and sedentary lifestyle patients may be predominanly having insulin resistance.

These types of patients could be tried with theraputic Lifestyle Modification...like dieting and exercise and if good glucose control is not acieved in a month (longest period) could be tried with Metformin and other Oral Anti Diabetic medicines.

In low weight and normal weight and those patients who are doing mannual works we have to start multiple drugs ..apart from metformin other groups of medicines also tried and at times Insulins according to the blood glucose values.

So pls dont mislead the patients...dont allow your ignorence affect othe innocent people.
