There are so many factors that can trigger Type 2 diabetes.

What matters now is what we do about it.

This is very old theory being practiced by our ancestral, when there was scarcity of food say, wheat etc, there was no diabetes,or its %was almost negligible, now the food is in abundant quantity, most works are being carried by machines, even of house hold, hence very less calories burning, leading to over storage in body, result in adverse effects.

It is said that cave man use to anything....he was omnivorous...

As he developed...he started agriculture...and hence consumption of carbs got increased....

As % of carbs went up....his development of brain also went up.....gradually his brain got bigger....More intelligence.

Now guess we (world population)are going thru some phase..transition....there are certain set of genes...which are capable of metabolizing higher carbs to support more big brain....

We diabetic are not fit in that phase....so nature wants us to get eliminated....

Hmmmm am I painting very bad and dark picture????

Sorry.....

@cure...I think this is not only true only for diabetics but whole human race...see how many new infectious diseases are originating to eliminate the world human population

Main fuel of brain is fat ...not carbs(how can brain get bigger on consuming more carbs)...nature punishing diabetics (and many more suffering from various diseases) to abandon natural fat, protien and switching to carbs, and using the reservoir of insulin very fast and not doing their part of hard work for what they are designed for... :)...grains are not made for human being ...as if taken in abundance , grain cause the mal-absorption of many important nutrients ...Even if you feed more grains to animals like dogs and cows they get various diseases due to to mal-absorption of various nutrition I guess

Yes that is one other view point.....Guess birds are fed mostly on grains...but they have small brain....

But yes.....nature wants us to get eliminated if we do not improve....

Now improvement in which direction is question.....

But sure...as of now with LCHF...we can fight back.....

true for all other illnesses too ...not only diabetes ...you are right ...change is the law of nature ...those who were ready to change survived if you see the history of evolution of life ...for surviving one need to change...so who ever is ready to change is fittest for survival :) according to Darwins theory

Dont just think about diet...change should come from many perspectives ...there is formula to get out of stagnation in life ...is to find what change is required in behavior/thinking/diet/over all life style and this includes cleaning up old beliefs and planting new ones....and follow the course of change

I felt it many times that whenever a dead-end situation comes...some big changes are required in ourselves only not in world surrounding us and big part is to find out... what needs to changed ...what has to be discarded???

Sorry. I have different scientific knowledge. Glucose and ketones are the main fuel of brain. In normal life our metabolisn is carb based. So brain uses glucose. In case of prolonged starvation when no food is eaten our metabolism becomes fat based- and that is why fats are stored in our body - the brain uses ketones.

There is no reservoir of insulin. It's synthesized in our body.

Grains are a good source of carbs and hence energy. Can you please elaborate how grains cause malabsorption.

"Glue"ten sticks to gut walls like glue is taken in refined form...try to wash away some wheat flour or maida in kitchen sink and dont use any scubber...after some days you will see the sink sticky ...the same happens to our gut...if something is lying sicking to gut walls how the vit/minerals will be absorbed after digestion and go into blood...?

healthyeating.sfgate.com/gl...

Read about Phytates in seeds ...this binds many nutrition present in food and doent let it get absorbed in body ...to minimize Phytates ...grains are soaked and fermented...

marksdailyapple.com/why-gra...

suramo profile image
suramoStar in reply tokarch

@karch

our guts are not kitchen sink. Well the immune system produces antibodies in gluten sensitive people. They stop gluten right at the villous lining of the guts. This reaction produces certain enzymes etc that destroy villi. Villi are the innocent victim. Once villi are destroyed the total surface area for absorption decreases and so malabsorption and malnutrition.

"Phytates (and phytic acid) are antioxidant compounds found in whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. The chief concern about phytates is that they can bind to certain dietary minerals including iron, zinc, manganese and, to a lesser extent calcium, and slow their absorption."

Kya yaar. Ab ye koun si theory hai? "As % of carbs went up....his development of brain also went up.....gradually his brain got bigger....More intelligence." Carbs nhi tha koi jankari nhi thi tab bhi kheti karna sikh liya 🐒🐒🐒 with small brain as you say!!?? Ye baat kuchh hazam nhi hui. Nature has made us like that. Nobody knows how human life evolved on the earth.

Shape up or ship out! This is always followed by nature.... it is survival of fittest...

Darwin also talked about natural selection.....

Hmmm but when human population was so less....and ppl were living in tightly bound tribes....marrying out side tribe was considered sin....do u think natural selection was possible??

Also if we think about mutants...is it possible to get mutants in such less numbers??

In india...in marriages we do not follow( till last generations) we always went for arrange marriages....that was very much against natural selection???

Also we married in same caste....is that reason for concentration of diabetic gene pool??

One of the twins not getting D and the other gets the incidence is 1:4 i.e. out of 5 such twins one not getting D is one only. Other 4 will have. This is with regards to identical twins. Unizygotic.

Genes are important in developing D.

karch profile image
karch in reply tosuramo

Apart from genes ...eating patterns/physical activity pattern in families are inherited as traditions ...so though genes are important, but eating more carbs in family ...getting having more incidence of diabetes can not be ignored...like in south india ...they eat a lot of white rice ...have more incidences of diabetes ...so in families of north india ...where people dont hesitate to eat plenty of sweets on daily basis have more incidences of diabetes in family...

Having the genes, however, isn’t enough to give you the disease. Even if you have diabetes genes, if you live in an environment where you don’t get a lot to eat and you do hard physical labor all day, you still probably won’t get diabetes. Some people think the diabetes genes are thrifty genes that make your body use its food more efficiently, meaning that you can gain more weight with less food. In times of famine, this comes in handy, and when food was extremely scarce, your ancestors probably fared better and had more children than other families who didn’t have those genes.

I have a different view. We have weak genes. Beta cells are destined to fail as per the script written for them as a transcript in weak genes. Also this genetic weakness extends to other cells of the body in terms of ir. To what extent will be decided by how potent or weak is another member of the pair. We receive 2 genes one from the mother and the other from father. If one of the genes is strong you may not become fully diabetic. But you will surely have impaired glucose tolerance. If you know before hand that you are going to be diabetic you can prevent the bad effects by controlling your bs by diet exercise etc. The damage occurs due to high bs causing edema in all the tissues of our body. Lots of ros generated. Anti oxidants from any source - ayu, homeo diet etc can if taken in enough quantity prevent damage due to ros. These agents can't cure or reverse D. Diet by far is the most important. But the definite treatment for both types of D is infusing new genetic material - stem cell therapy.

True....May be or may not be......let us try...then reject....

They are not costly...and not risky either....it is just question of time and patience ....

firstly. Twins unizygotic - same genetic structure and dizygotic - like two babys born o/o two pregnancy - different genetic structure.

For a disease to develop

1) predisposing factors- eg genes

2) precipitating factors - eg diet, life style etc.

Type 1 beta cells are destroyed. No insulin.

T2d usually weak genes - ir and low insulin. Definite treatment is replacing weak genes with strong genes - stem cell therapy either autologus or heterologus.

Diet fast exercise can control the damage if you can keep bs low - within normal range.

I repeatedly say that our education system including medical requires a total overhauling. The docs are so trained that their vision has become narrow.

Just two examples.

1) bhabhi of a senior dr here had shoulder pain. They lived in bombay and husband too a doctor. Went to ortho. He did everything for shoulder pain - xray drugs physio but she died. Why? That ortho didn't think of cardiac origin of pain. A simple ecg and a few blood tests would have saved her life.

2) my own cousin in his forties had lots of perspiration. He was severely diabetic. Ecg almost normal but there was a slightly abnormal blood report - ldh a bit higher than normal. That physician could not read into it. For 10days he took rest as advised but you know what is difference between rest for mi and for routine illness. He died.

In both cases gross negligence. If the system were correct perhaps their lives would have been saved or at least others would have learnt from these cases. Both cases went unnoticed. I am sure the physician who killed my cousin would ever know what he missed.

This is the kind of medical care we are getting. Optha would never have heard the name of ala. I bet

Now a days gotra bar is also removed ...I know many cases in which couples have same gotra , but type of form subcaste should not be same i.e same type of brahmins marriage is not allowed...

May be the caste system arrived because people didnt wanted to borrow faulty genes from another caste :) , so in that way spread of

genetic disorders is limited within the community...

I guess arrange marriage is major hindrance to natural selection process. Is that the reason why there is more % of diabetes in India?

karch profile image
karch in reply tocure

I guess "

I guess arrange marriage is major hindrance to natural selection process. Is that the reason why there is more % of diabetes in India?"

should be better "marriage within community ... :) love marriages can also be within the community ...now a days parents are not objecting that :)

Come on Cure...Whatever it is... I would not prefer my kid to marry outside of my community ....there are several other factors apart from D which we have consider when thinking of marriage :)

BTW I have realised that when looking for marraige we never consider a person who is like us ...mostly attracted to a person who the opposite of us in traits/personality ...thats because we also diversity in genes unknowingly :)

Lets come to the point ...its carbs for diabetes in India ...not arrange marriages...:) (like kerosene and diabetes relation lol:) ) (dont give wrong messages to young generation here in forum :) ) ...carbs consumptions along with sedentary lifestyle and neglecting good fats (and already indian population has less food sources for Omega -3 , so imflammation related problems are prevalent here ...like most of ladies fall prey to problem of knees after 45 ,which is much more common in India rather than other developed countries and colitis etc) are the reason for D in India

Guess what???

At the begining of Mahabharat war....Arjuna was very much terrified....and guess what was his apprehension?? Varna sankara....

he clearly says....by killing so many ppl I will help for varna sankara....

अधर्माभिभवात्कृष्ण प्रदुष्यन्ति कुलस्त्रिय:।

स्त्रीषु दुष्टासु वार्ष्णेय जायते वर्णसंकर

With the preponderance of vice, Krishna, the women of the family become corrupt, and with the corruption of women, o descendant of vrusni, there ensues an inter mixture of castes.

Hmmm Even I searched daughter in law from my community....

And I do believe..it is only in India we have a ancient system of selective breeding (bit crude word for marriage :p)

However....are we not forcing our kids..to ignore natural instincts for selection of partner???

karch profile image
karch in reply tocure

really??...I read Gita but never found this conversation b/w Krishna and Arjun...You have a deep knowledge of ancient literature indeed....I just knew that Arjun just wanted to quit the war as it would lead him to kill his own family members ...Krishna was convincing him to do the same by giving various reasons, as it was the destiny of Kauravas

In my family there is no intercaste marriages ...being Rajput ...nobody prefers that in family ...

I dont see any problem in forcing kids to leave the instinct of natural selection to get wide variety of genes...as its for their greater good in long term ...we have seen our ancestors happy in this way...so we want them to follow the same :) Dont tell me that by allowing them to marry intercaste and then continuing the same high carb diet will cut some probability of getting D for their offsprings :) lol :)

Is it good or bad?? God knows....

HI Suramo ,

This may seem off topic ...but I feel lost if I start thinking that if most of the cells of body are regenerated ...then why does not some ailing organs cell dont regenerate ?? i.e pncrease cells is regenerated in certain period of time for non -diabetic person ...then why dont in a diabetic person ?? If skin cells regenerate then why does the mark of old injuries remain ...why doest the mark goes away in some time ??
