Accuracy level of BG monitors
Even major hospitals even in ICU use only the BG Monitors. So they must be accurate. But you need to check HbA1c every three months. Which is the ral indicator of your sugar levels.
There is also a patch now available. This is taped to your arm and it records the BG levels 27x7. For 14 days. you can download the readings every three days. The chart gives you the accurate projections.
All bg monitors are reliable to a point. How long have you been using the One Touch?
I use the Breeze2 and DEXCOM CGM Gen.4 system. Both work pretty well.
I am using SELECT ONE TOUCH GLUCOMETER for quite sometime and the results of blood glucose are pretty accurate within very reasonable tolerance level when you compare those with the results taken in reputed pathological laboratories with ISO accreditation.
Not always. Bcoz in lab they test by centrifugal system which 99.99% accurate. So my advice to check at least once in a month in the lab. Rest of the time will be ok. After all BG monitor are battery operated so one must take care before use.
I use doctor recommended Accucheck, it is very accurate. Whenever I need to take a blood test at the lab, I test at home too. It is very accurate.
Though each strip is costly (Rs.33/-) Optium xceed has minimum variation. I cross checked in lab with in 5 mits. After taking reading
Have an Accu-chek mobile but i suspect it is the same for all blood glucose monitors. Accu-chek provides test solution for 3 ranges. The blue set is for a range between 2.7 and 4.2. Assuming the actual value is 3.45 this leaves you with a variance of 0.75 mmol/l either side.
This is the reason why at ICU they always measure (at least) twice for low values.
The ranges are somewhat smaller and thus relatively less important for the other two test solutions.
