Long wheat is it not barley (jau)? Can somebody guide me on this. I will be thankful.

It is not barley.it is variety of wheat which is not grown/cultivated in Punjab. The variety of wheat grown these days is not long and it hybrid wheat.i am also searching in case you find please let me also know. Barley is grown in north India and is easily available and it cannot be found in grain form .it is available with husk on it .

Hi @kbsingh1,

What you shared is a very useful information for some persons who are looking for it. But there is a confusion among some members about the name Jau/Jo/Jaun. They say it is Barley. What is needed is that Wheat which is known by different names in different parts of India. Some of those names I could gather are Khapli, Samba, Chamba, Pedda, Suuchi, Oosi, Jave, Suve, Long, Poduvu, Makka, Lal, Jaada, Jad, Suji, Javi, Blia, Zave, Sharbathi etc.

Hence can you publish a photograph of the wheat you bought, for the benefit of other members. If you are not able to include here, please use the link "Write a post" given near the top right corner of this window & use the "Add photo" link given there. It will be a great service to this community. (I am not in need as my Diabetes is cured long ago using Long Wheat which is very commonly available in my place).

after a long search I think that jau and LW is different LW is called "samba wheat" in Gujara .Where it is available in NCR I don't Know ,if any body know please shear with us ...
