Does human body works on thermodynamic principles and obeys laws of physics?
Do you still believe,a calorie is a calorie... - Diabetes India
Do you still believe,a calorie is a calorie is a calorie ?
Please can you explain it in a bit more detail. Thank you.
Thanks.
Do you mean to say that our weight will not increase In spite of heavy eating ?
Forget about specific cases. In general populace will over eating lead to weight gain to level of over weight or obesity.
So what calorie has to do either with weight gain or weight loss ?
Excess of eating, even not necessary for stomach by only taste purposes so many persons consume heavy food Even most of persons if not necessary may take so much time coffee or tea.
In generally
Early morning 1 or 2 coffee or tea 8-10 AM breakfast 1-30 2-30 PM lunch evening coffee or tea may be with some snacks and night 8-9 PM dinner is sufficient.
But most of persons take 3 or 4 coffee within 8 Am and take heavy breakfast and also in office outside they go to coffee and also take etc food like fried in oil bajji vada and also some dosa etc this is too heavy Further they taken meals as usual 1-30 Pm and evening snacks they go to and taken masala dosa or puri with vada or bajji etc. All these are heavy food and most of heavy carbo hydrates also
And night they take heavy dinner with stomach full
This causs nothing but obesty noticed and all otherdiseases noticed including diabetes and blood pressure .
We have to gove some rest to ourbody organs.
To avoid this limiting food in proper time is the solution.
totally excess eating portionwhich may not digest will became fat and it forms obesity to the person and it may complicate too much diseases including DM T2 and blood pressure and kidney problems and also heart problems .
BUT DONOT THINK ALL OBESITY PERSONS HAVE THIS DISEASES SO MUCH OBESITY PERSONS HAVE SOME GOOD HEALTH WITH NO DISEASES. I HAVE SEEN SOME PERSONS IN PERSONNELY EVEN THEY OVERWT AND OBESITY THEY HAVE FULLY HEALTH WITH NO DISEASES. SIMILARLY LEAN PERSONS THIN PERSONS HAVING BMI 21-22 HAVE PROBLEMS OF HBPAND DIABETIC T2
So caloriei is one of the tool for healthy aspects like BMI but itself only not considered it is one of the aspects only
For example if youseen cricket players athletics WWf players boxiers etc have eat countless eggs mutton chicken ghee butter and also rice chapati etc there calorie may be more than medical guideline fixed but they are healthy in all the way .
Now existing guidelines for BMI calorie BMR etc have to be consider as one of the aspects in healthy persons but not taken as final.
Lastly limited fooc consumption giving gap to 5 -6 hpurs one food consuming to another is good andavoid junk food and consume food if necessary only.
But does the weight increase in the same proportion as we overeat. Also why some person gain weight Even if don't eat much or over eat and remain Lin and thin ? Any explanation?
There are 3 pattern of the body system
1 small frame 2 medium frame 3 large frame
1 small frame persons whatever they eat their body will digest most of 90 % of the food . So never possible to became over wt or obese
2 medium frame persons whatever they eat only 50 % of fooc to be digested by the body so they may be some how over wt and may chances of became obesity .
To avoid this they may consume food with limit and maximum of low calorie foods like vegetables more and grains some less quantity And also they must do the physical activity like exercises yoga or walking or any other fitness work through any apparatus like tread mill or any other apparatus If they try to these things they may avoid over wt or obesity
This to be done every day except some exceptional times they may continue ever. If they left out these their body became more over wt or obesity as they have before.
3 Large frame persons whatever they eat they have digested only 10 % of the food and remaining will became stored as fat. These persons
most of them obesity and over wt.
However these persons by consuming limited food and full of vitamins and nutrients they may became healthy without any other diseases
If they want to became some thin they may go to full check up with Doctor if any surgery necessary ?
Above all for non diabetic persons .
Further you should understand any frame of the person may have diabetes or BP or heart problems and also kidney problems .
These diseases there is no restriction for over wt or under wt.
The obesity or over wt. persons have more chances of noticed diabetes or HBP but this may not for every person
Is there any direct correlation between between weight gain or weight loss with calorie in and calorie out ? Is it directly proportional or vice versa.
Hyperinsulinemia is supposed to be a feature of type 2 DM. Why then not all diabetics are obese or overweight. Why and how a diet can lead to a weight reduction in type 2.
Ragivrao , must say that I am very much satisfied with whole discussion. It is to the point, very informative and very fruitful and many positive things have come out of it . For this all the contributors deserve compliment and thanks.
But certain serious point have been raised also, which requires separate discussion. Thank you all, I am grateful.
In the next topic these will be required.
Thought you have concluded. Please next post will provide you ample opportunity to explain.Thanks.
A calorie is a calorie is a calorie...of course. it really doesn't matter where it comes from...unless u have heart disease, diabetes and other health issues where u need to be selective as to the source of calories.
OK I am late to the party
But oh well, here is my 2 cents worth ... Now all of you "my diet is better than yours" please hold your horses. I am just going to try to address the basic question
Our body's do follow laws of physics. I was bad at Thermodynamics and it brings back bad memories from my engineering study days so I won't go there. And NO a calorie is not a calorie in reference to what you are referring to. From a pure physics or thermodynamics perspective a calorie of energy generated by burning carbs or fat or protein is the same. So in theory 9 gm carb, 9 gm proteins and 4gm fat each will generate 36cal energy however the amount of energy spent by the human body to process each of these fuels is different. The metabolic process is not the exact same in each case either.
Consider a car that runs on petroleum and another that runs on diesel. They both can run 100 miles on certain amount of fuel and generate certain amount of power. Think of our bodies to be like an automobile engine that accepts both petroleum and diesel to take us from point A to point B using different amounts of petroleum or diesel, producing different bye products, including some causing more pollution than others.
In my recent readings I have come across information that suggests that carbs are the cleanest burning fuels with the least bye products and proteins being the least clean with most bye products and fats in the middle. If the body is placed in a ketogenic mode the fats are a cleaner fuel. So apart from the basics of carbs/fats/ proteins there are a lot of other factors that determine how each of these will act on human body.
Hope this helps
Shails, very well presented, thank you. But you missed out one important point is environment. Thr physical environment, the quality of road, force of air,for or against, inclination or road, twist and turns in road as well as altitude. Even intensity of sun light. So the law of thermodynamics which works so well in physical environment and follows laws of physics. It may not be true in biological environment. Both physical and biological environment are quite different. For the same reason all calories may not be the same.
Dear Indiacratus, there is no confusion and I perfectly understand what you are saying. I just say that if you go on increasing calorie intake to infinity ,will the weight gain will also be infinite?
