Let me share the advise I received from my doctor relating to similar problem, and if you find it relevant to you, please consider it.
As one advances in age and diabetes progresses, the sweat glands on the skin become more and more dysfunctional.Consequently, the skin will not be lubricated with sweat and becomes dry and itchy. To counter this,I was advised to apply oil on the body and do light massage about an hour before bath.Any massage oil will do.I use Himalaya massage oil.My skin condition has improved and itching has more or less disappeared.I also use a moisturizing lotion if I find any dry skin here and there.Try it.It is harm less and not expensive.
some times it is because acidity too.
I hav itchy dry skin mostly on my feet an ankles i use a simple baby lotion and this helps but ive been told its another symptom of my type2 diabetis.goodluck
