I am using Onetouch ultra machine and its strips. I have 3 year old needles which are in original packing.. can I use these needles ?

do needles have expiry date ? Not marked in the packets. doctor says sterile needle if no opened can be used.

My view is,you can use them,if they have been stored properly.The metal tip is covered in plastic until removed and so should be sterile.

Thanks . Mr. Venkat. The needle ends are un tampered. and hence I am using them. the strips only I buy. they are too costly in Chennai. 25 strips pack cost Ra.850/- No other strips match one touch ultra.

I think Results may be effective by using too old stripes

Not advisable Mr. Satish. stripes after expiry date are not dependable. I feel just a short period---say a month may be ok.

just use them don't worry. I use the same one since 4-5 yrs. If on anyone else, use new one.

I sterilize them before use. No need to frequently change the needle.

It is better to avoid those needles as of long duration. some times micropores develops in packings so the needles may get infected

But doctors don't say that. Sterile needles if untampered can be used irrespective of period.

if you are talking about the needles not the strips, go ahead use them, no worries, it should not change your blood reading as someone else said above. I don't even know how old mine are and also I use the same needle to prick many times but I don't share it with other people in my household.

Afterall these needles have less cost .Pl.dispose it and have a new set if you have doubt.

"Thyrocare" gives the Glucometer for INR (Rs.) 1000 odd. The strips- 25 nos- cost Rs. 250/- and come with 25 needles too, albeit un-necessary.
