Immediately meet a Physician preferably a ENDOCRINOLOGIST (specialist of the glands) and meticulously follow his advice.

Management of sugar levels is a tough job but is not impossible if you realize that the task is essentially in your own hands. The doctor or dietician may guide you but ultimately it is you who has to put into practice all that has been learnt. Diet control makes maximum difference in a diabetic condition. Avoid sugar, sweets, and any food that is loaded with sugars like mango, banana etc. Also avoid vegetables like potato, beet, sweet potato etc that grow underground. Eat more of sprouts, vegetables and greens that give you fiber, minerals and vitamins. Eat less of rice, wheat and other cereals rich in carbohydrates and demand more insulin for converting to energy. The idea should be to reduce consumption of at least 200 to 300 calories per day to gain significant results.

After diet, exercise plays a very important role. Walking or jogging for 40 to 60 minutes a day will improve your glucose metabolism significantly and spend about 200 calories.

Last but not the least one should lead a stress free life style. Stress is a recognized trigger for diabetes. Practice relaxation techniques like pranayama, yogasanas etc.

Since your levels are high better visit a diabetologist immediately.

Ultimately the most important person in your diabetes management is Y OU.

You need to cut your glucose levels considerably. Focus on following points:-

1. Immediately consult a Physician for medication and Dietitian for diet control.

2. Stop all oral intake of sweets in any form.

3. Take five small meals (every 2 - 3 hours) in a day.

4. Exercise or walk for at least 40 minutes in a day at least 5 days a week.

5. Get your glucose levels (Fasting Blood Sugar checked every month and Hb A1c checked every 3 months.

Immediately stop sweet things. If you take liquor stop that also. Along with other treatments, if any, try GEM Diet. Details are in my web article, link below.

The text below is a "COPY&PASTE STUFF" from my previous replies to some others.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT, KINDLY IGNORE THIS.

TAKING MEDICINES ALONE WILL NOT BRING DOWN BLOOD SUGAR ALWAYS. YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR FOOD HABITS & LIFE STYLE ALSO TEMPORARILY TILL CURE.

Please read MY REPLIES part 1 & 2 to question AT diabetesindia.healthunlocke...

Diabetes is a fundamental disorder. It is comparable with low voltage in an electric circuit. In both cases all connected subsystems will under-perform and will fail in due course. It will affect sex life also, if diab is not contained. Diab impairs the glucose (SUGAR) & oxygen supply to ALL CELLS of the patient. You cannot compensate the resultant weakness with liquor, food or medicines.

A DIABETESE PATIENT (also known as A DIABETIC) need NOT starve. PROPER or APPROPRIATE food can be eaten EVEN FULL STOMACH THRICE DAILY! Try to understand diabetes & conquer it.

I was diabetic from 2006; but NOT diabetic from 2009. I studied Diabetes thoroughly, because it was to solve MY problem.

Do you want to see my experience and blood sugar history from 2006 to 2013? Those are reported at: appropedia.org/Diabetes_mel... If you want only MODUS OPERANDI, GO TO appropedia.org/Diabetes_mel...

Thanks for the links.

Went through your experiences & it was informative.

One question,

Is your diabetes totally cured or Is it totally under control ?

Thanks

Thank you for reading my article. Between 2009 & 2013 I regularly take three rice based meals daily, take coffee/tea with sugar, eat fruits, take no diabetic medication, do no much exercise except slow walk for an hour for my cardiology problem, eat full rice meal and 4-5 desserts on special occasions like marriage feast. I have done Oral Glucose Tolerance Test three times during the same period with negative results. I regularly check blood sugar monthly to see whether it is returning. I get my HbA1c tested every quarterly. It is consistently 5.9 for more than a year now.

Now you please tell me whether I am completely CURED or only completely under control.

2009 - 2013 - a period of 4 years, without any medications & normal diet. Amazing. Appears, to be "CURED" to me. Am really glad, you are in this position. Your experience will be really motivating and also give a ray of hope, to me as well as to many others who read this.

Thanks

By any standards, those readings are very high. Consult a Doc. Go for other tests like Hba1c, Lipid profile, Fundus examination of Eye and take immediate treatment. prolonged BS levels at such level can potentailly harmfful. besides medication, diet mgmt, exercise are very very imp.
