Type 1 is called early onset or juvenile diabetes because it manifests at an early age, even in children. The pancreas is dysfunctional because of auto immune syndrome and so cannot produce any insulin. They have to depend on insulin injections for life.
Type 2 manifests mostly after age of 30.It has to be managed with diet control, exercise, disciplined lifestyle and medicines including insulin if necessary
The third type is called gestational diabetes.Pregnant ladies get it but mostly it disappears after child birth. Some of them may not get diabetes at later age also.
