Yes, they can. But go to reputed ones like Kottakkal, Kerala Ayurveda. Following posting by me sometime back may help.

My experience is Gymnema sylvestre is effective in initial phases for 4-5 years. Believe it is one of the drugs mentioned in Ayurvedic classical texts. It definitely helps in controlling diabetic complications even if not able to control sugar levels. There is an excellent Ayurvedic tablet by name Glymin from Kerala Ayurveda which has Gymnema sylvestre, Jambu seeds (Jamun), Haridra (Turmeric), Amla, few more herbs, beauty is whole combination is processed in Shilajit.

I feel Glymin can be a good supplement to Allopathy drugs/Insulin. In any case consult an Ayurvedic Physician esp. from Kerala Ayurveda (keralaayurveda.biz/). Check for the wellness center nearby you.

HTH, thanks...

I agree with Mr RBN.One needs to take Ayurvedic medicines only in consultations with a qualified Ayurvedic doctor whose first task is to understand your PRAKRITI and DOSHA before initiating any tratment in holistic way. I was fortunate to find a Kottakkal centre near my home in Mumbai about a month ago. Quality of Ayurvedic formulations from Kerala are better , I strongly feel and even veteran Ayurvedic doctors from North India admit it in private. My initial results are good .Though I am continuing insulin prescribed by my regular doctor my Blood Sugar level are now well controlled. But medications , allopathic or Ayurvedic work better only if a diabetic takes proper diet with morning walk and keeps his doctor in confidence about these things.

Whatever system of medicine you take,it is better to monitor the sugar levels at home by using a glucometer. You can report the progress to your doctor and he will be in a better position to advise you further.
