Wearable vibrating device may help with freezing of gait in Parkinson’s

no idea when this may be available or what it may cost

"Researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University have developed prototypes of wearable devices that use pressure sensors and vibrations to address freezing of gait, a hallmark symptom of Parkinson’s disease."

"One such device is a specialized shoe sole equipped with sensors. These sensors detect changes in pressure as the wearer takes a step, and respond by sending vibratory signals to the top of the foot, allowing for adjustments in gait and balance."

some time ago I thought about a similar solution for the feet: an insole with electrostimulators (or something like that) against the foot block. let's hope they develop it!

Check Out Carl Beech and the Beech band. It's the same sort of thing.

that is exactly what I thought so that was why I wondered what it would cost and seems like it might get FDA approval which might make it available through insurance - the Beech Band on the other hand has the advantage of very low cost to begin with and anticipating its availability - with that said the fact they are printing this with a 3D printer might make it less expensive but I doubt it will match the price of the Beech band
