I am delighted to announce that our next NoSilverBullet Zoom session will be taking place at 7.30pm London time on Monday 17th of July.

Lucy Jung, CEO of Charco Neurotech will be talking to us about the CUE1, a non-invasive wearable device designed to reduce slowness and stiffness in Parkinson's.

Please use the Eventbrite link below to register for this event:

Please take a moment to watch the video below for an introduction to CUE1:

Charco Neurotech, the company behind CUE1, was co-founded by CEO Lucy Jung and named after professor Charcot, who discovered the therapeutic effects of vibratory stimulation on Parkinson's in the 19th century. Since then, numerous studies have been conducted on the ability of stimulation to alleviate movement symptoms associated with the disease.

CUE1 combines the principles of focussed vibrotactile stimulation and cueing, both of which have been scientifically proven to improve motor performance and reduce freezing of gait in people with Parkinson's. The company's testing has demonstrated clinically significant improvements in motor symptoms, including smoother walking and movement, and better fine motor task performance.

CUE1 is already being used by around 1,000 people in the UK and Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, UK, has recently begun trialling the device with its inpatients, as reported in this news article:

Exciting.

In April I went to a Living Well presentation and Cue1 had an information booth. Available in the UK. Can be made available in US with a doctor's script and then you pay out of pocket. They are working on making it available in US (durable medical equipment coding, and more needs to be done). Sounded like a useful and helpful device.

Just went on their website to register and be notified when available in US.

This is so promising. I’ll be in London in a few months. Is it available for purchase somewhere? Obviously I don’t have a doctor as I live in the US. Thanks.

Hi Jocelyn

They have a waiting list and you would need to register on their website. Hearing from other PwPs this might take some time but you can always cancel if the timing doesn’t work for you.
