House2 has posted on this twice: healthunlocked.com/cure-par... I have posted about it also. It you read this long article from Mar 2021 the main point I take away is that Caloric Vestibular Stimulation works: tandfonline.com/doi/full/10...
I am sure I can't get hold of the Caloric Vestibular Stimulation device, but maybe somebody knows how to get a Galvanic Vestibular Stimulation device?
This is offered in our area at a local chiropracter. It is generally not covered by health insurance. I think when I checked, patient would sign for a package, as with everything in PD advised it would take several sessions. I think the cost was about $3,000. Norman Doige wrote a great book on neuroplasticity. The Brain that Changes Itself available used and on Amazon.
There is currently a trial underway at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England into Vestibular Stimulation. They have reported good results from their first trial (using Caloric devices) and I have recently taken part in a second trial using a different method of stimulation. I understand that the equipment used is only available for research purposes (in the UK at least) currently but they are looking to get it approved for therapeutic uses.
clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show... this out. I know you can't get much info from this but as a caregiver to my mom w/Parkinson's and a clinical research professional, this is really exciting. Not another pill with more side effects.
