I found the vendor's website. "Smart" shoes. Price starting from $1295.00. It reports back to your MD how you are doing. It is not clear whether you the patient can have access to all the same data, although apparently you do get some of it.
Hi I have Parkinson’s and my daughter found some great shoes on Amazon that are low to the ground with a large toe box it’s almost like being barefoot. They are only $40. I usually have to change shoes every 3-4 days but I have been wearing them for over two weeks still feel good. They are not smart but I am finding that I am able to use my toes to keep my balance better. I push off my toes now so that large ligament under my feet is stretched out and my feet don’t hurt anymore I hope that helps someone else to keep walking!
There are 3 pricing options, but I can see on the website now, they have taken the pricing off. You could buy with Shoes only, or if you have an Iphone, you can download a heap of data for use with your Dr. Also they used to have a price add on to be able to get a second pair free if you returned your old ones after a certain amount of time I think it was..... it was very good. 1600.00 Euro I think we paid for the pair with the ability to download data and get a second pair. I think you can see the data yourself on your Iphone...
Hi Arubanne, so pleased the shoes worked for your walking.
I posted about 4 months back as my husband also bought them when we were living in Spain. Unfortunately for him they didn't work as we had hoped they would, to help him stop falling. His walking wasn't a problem, it's the stopping, starting, turning that are heavy issues, which the shoes didn't help with. Such a shame. Hopefully in the future.
They guys at Magnes were incredibly helpful, friendly and zoom chats were very clear and concise as to what we were to expect. We knew when we chose to buy them that there was a big chance they wouldn't work, even though we were hopeful.
The shoes are stylish and the price is up there, but if they work, then well worth it.
Getting the shoes back to them after since they didn't work for my husband was easy and our refund was on our account in swift time.
I’m in my third year of PD. I’m on LC 3x per day. I feel my symptoms are progressing. My biggest challenge energy and endurance. Exercise is certainly a common recommendation and I think it’s valid. It’s a gut check for me but one I’m trying to overcome as it does seem to help!
