My son bought L-Tyrosine for me, and said it helps PD by research, it can help you make dopamine . It is a kind of Amino Acid. My doctor said that you can try it, but, should not take it with levodopa the same time, should take it apart from levodopa. Has someone tried it ?

And if you’re taking MAO inhibitors (MAOI’s) like selegiline, Azilect, Marplan or Nardil you should not use L-Tyrosine.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) work in your brain by blocking the enzyme monoamine oxidase. This enzyme normally blocks excess dopamine. But when you block the enzyme, more dopamine is released.

So using L-Tyrosine in combination with MAOI’s could raise dopamine levels too high. Resulting in a rapid rise in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis). Causing severe headache, nausea and sweating, severe anxiety, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, vision changes, shortness of breath and confusion.

A severe increase in blood pressure from this combo can lead to hemorrhagic stroke or a heart attack.

are you sure you dont mean Tyramine? I believe what you're talking about is called The Tyramine Cheese Effect.

I think Tyramine and L-Tyrosine are the same thing.

I am not sure this is the right time to introduce Alpine Bliss? A drink from Switzerland.

It has L-Tyrosine. It is described as a cognitive energy booster.

Here is the manufactures description of the drink:

The world's first dopamine support energy drink that gives you an energy and focus increase with our proprietary DopaBliss™ blend. Contains key dopamine precursors to help improve your motivation, focus, attention span and performance. With ultra-pure water sourced directly from the European Alps and a delicious Sparkling Berry Fusion flavor. Only 25 calories and 5g of sugar per can. Every purchase is protected by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

ingredients:

Infused with Ginger Root Extract, our energy formula sharpens mental clarity and focus by supporting dopamine levels. L-Tyrosine and L-Phenylalanine are amino acids that increase alertness, focus, and mental clarity. Ginseng contributes to sustained energy levels and cognitive function, enhancing endurance. Saffron Extract's mood-enhancing qualities promote mental well-being. Caffeine provides the immediate boost of wakefulness and attention, making this drink a powerful formula to help you perform at your peak, whenever you need it.

(This is not a complete list - last thing listed is sucralose)

I have been waiting for this to be posted on HU, to see what you think. We bought some but have not tried it yet. Anyone else hear about his drink or tried it?

I bought it on Amazon - at the time there were 4 left. It has been selling out. Some people say it is addictive, others are using it to replace alcohol. The warning on can is not more than 3 per day. My husband and I split a can last night. I do not like the idea it has sucralose. I wasn't delighted with the taste. Did 1/2 can make me happy? less anxious? Maybe.

Ghmac . I looked up this drink and I can't tell the difference between an infomercial or a genuine review of the product.
