How many with PD (have taken or does take) Tyrosine

In Dr. Sackner Bernstein presentation he mentioned Tyrosine producing Dopamine inside the cells. Made me wonder how many with PD (have taken or does take) Tyrosine. If he is right about too much dopamine in the cells being the cause, Tyrosine supplements should have a huge detrimental effect on PD. healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

I've taken acetylated tyrosine, it is an excellent mood elevator.

There is plenty of tyrosine in the diet so it is not usually necessary to supplement it:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrosine

"Tyrosine, which can also be synthesized in the body from phenylalanine, is found in many high-protein food products such as chicken, turkey, fish, milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, peanuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, soy products and lima beans, but also in avocados and bananas.[7] For example, the white of an egg has about 250 mg per egg,[8] while lean beef/lamb/pork/salmon/chicken/turkey contains about 1 g per 3 ounces (85 g) portion.[8]"

It is important to have abundant tyrosine internally because levodopa can get erroneously substituted for it in the body's manufacture of proteins:

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/220...

"Levodopa (L-DOPA), a close structural analogue of the protein amino acid L-tyrosine, can substitute for L-tyrosine in protein synthesis and be mistakenly incorporated into newly synthesised proteins in vitro. We show that L-DOPA-containing proteins are present in the brain in L-DOPA-treated Parkinson's disease patients and accumulate in specific brain regions."

Dang if you do and dang if you don’t. The Med Pub article sounds like if you don’t have enough L-tyrosine you going to end up with misfolded proteins which adopted the l-dopa. I guess another downside of taking l-dopa. And, another reason not to take more [-dopa than you need.

Just read:

Tyrosine should not be taken at the same time as levodopa, a medication used to treat Parkinson's disease. Levodopa may interfere with the absorption of tyrosine.

Tyrosine may cause a severe increase in blood pressure in people taking antidepressant medications known as MAOIs. This rapid increase in blood pressure, also called "hypertensive crisis,” can lead to a heart attack or stroke. People taking MAOIs should avoid foods and supplements containing tyrosine.

Or maybe avoid maois? Tyrosine is a natural compound that is hard to avoid.

What about MAOB inhibitors? I need to re-listen to his presentation.

the probiotic that is designed to help the person make dopamine sounds like it has tyrosine

Restore Gold the Parkinson supplement has tyrosine in it.

Yep, took it for a year, then wondering if it was causing dopamine toxicity

Why? did it create symptoms or was it just because you read that it could?

I read it could

Tyrosine is a natural compound and hard to avoid. The question is - Is/can/does supplementation cause a problem? Is it safe to take tyrosine for months/years.

If someone takes Tyrosine for years, then is diagnosed with PD - Did Tyrosine cause? If the case is made, does it prove Dr. Sackner Bernstein is correct. He is wanting to prove by limiting Tyrosine conversion to l-dopa that too much l-dopa inside the cell is toxic. Would over supplementing with Tyrosine also prove he is correct?

There are a number of different mutations that affect alpha synuclein that are known to cause Parkinson's. I asked Dr. Sackner Bernstein how his theory could explain that and he had no answer.
