Adjusting Carbidopa levodopa 25 to 100 mg

Over the past several weeks I've noticed jitteriness in the morning and some involuntary movements of my body. I was currently taking 1 + 1/2 Carbidopa levodopa in the morning. 1 Carbidopa levodopa in the afternoon in one pill in the evening. I began to notice these symptoms since the extra half of Carbidopa was added in the morning. I spoke with my neurologist in a video conference and we decided maybe it was too high a dose. I tried B1 500 mg twice a day and started to have jittery response. I wasn't sure if it was the carbidopa-levodopa for the B1. So I cut the B1 the jitteriness continued. The decision is to cut the extra have to pill in the morning. How long should it take to notice a difference? At what point should I reintroduce B1? My nutritionist muscle tested me 4 b 1 and determined but I should use 500 mg twice a day. I'm wondering when I can restart the B1 to make a determination what's helping. Thanks for your advice

In my limited experience the reduction in dyskinesia should be immediate.

Also of interest - the difference between immediate release and controlled release:

I would wait for the jitteriness to subside before reintroducing the vitamin B1. Also you might want to start first with just once a day.

Just take in consideration if it doesn’t disappear after you return to your previous L-dopa dose that it can be restless legs. What time do you experience the jitteriness?

Mostly in the morning

I find in the morning I need less of a dose because dopamine has built up in the system overnight, and the stomach is empty. Definitely reduce the morning dose and you should feel the difference right away.

Thanks Do you adjust your dosage frequently?

I also noticed the involuntary movements after I walked 1/4 mile today. Could that be from too much dopamine from exercise?

Yes, I have found that after exercise I don’t need a usual dose of dopamine.

Yes, I “nibble” on a C/L pill throughout the day as needed. Sometimes I take a quarter or a third depending on how I feel. Usually no more than a half because more than that gives me the jitters.
