Dyskinesia

Seven patients suffering from Parkinson's disease (PD) with severely disabling dyskinesia received low-dose propranolol as an adjunct to the currently used medical treatment.

Hello, I would like to know if Mucuna Pruriens can increase dyskinesia. I know the medications can have that effect. My Husband used to take pramiprexole and Stalevo. Now he only takes Stalevo since we have introduced Mucuna. It works great.

The final wear off lasts anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes when I experience more severe symptoms and dyskinesia (I don’t have dyskinesia at other times). I usually sit with my feet up and try to relax. Anyone else have any suggestions that have worked for them? Thanks!

Rytary gives me terrible dyskinesia. I’ve tried backing down to a lower dose and it doesn’t work well. So the doc gave me amantadine for the dyskinesia and it gives me insomnia. Going crazy trying to dose. My spouse is having some walking issues and I had to take him for a MRI today.

My question is “Can adding amantadine to my Rytary to help with dyskinesia actually cause dystonia? Thanks for your thoughts.

The oral carbidopa (CD)/levodopa (LD) formulation that makes up CREXONT aims to provide patients with a more consistent “good on” time, which relates to a period of time a patient is free of dyskinesia (involuntary movements and muscle spasms).

But, other doctor said that will causes my Dyskinesia worse. Besides, I don’t want to take too many med every day. Has anyone ever taken this med? How does it work? Any bad side effect?

Really Awesome that people in a comatose state where awaken after 30 yr only to develop dyskinesia from high dose levodopa. I had tears in my eyes when they were awakened. The movie never mentioned that after only one summer that their dyskinesia was cause by the levodopa.

I’m unsure if it’s dyskinesia as it doesn’t seem to relate to peak dose and can appear anytime. What do you think? Thanks.

PD patients with severe motor fluctuations and hyperkinesia or dyskinesia when previous available combinations of PD medicinal products have not provided satisfactory results and who are not eligible for deep brain stimulation will be eligible for the treatment.

According to a new American study, taking two half tablets instead of one whole tablet of the C/L medication reduces fluctuations in the active substances in the blood and thus the risk of movement disorders such as dyskinesia.

Only one medication has demonstrated improvement in dyskinesia in levodopa-treated PD patients; however, every patient cannot tolerate it and therefore adjunctive therapy should be tailored to an individual’s symptoms and risk for specific adverse effects.

The combo works really well for me (with some exceptions that I'll cover in a separate post), but this past spring (2023), I started to get wearing-off dyskinesia near the end of some doses of mucuna. It took me a while to realize it was dyskinesia and not just tremor-related.

I'm hoping that might allow me to further reduce my mucuna/carbidopa dose and totally eliminate the dyskinesia.

I don't want "Levodopa phobia" to lead to bad decisions, but I'm also afraid of dyskinesia and other long-term effects of increased medication.

Definitely a form of dyskinesia caused by Levodopa. Tips for solving the problem? Thank you .
