Hi, I have just started on vitamin B1 therapy (sublingual) and I think I have had a case of overdoes . From folks who have tried the therapy first hand, would like to know what are the typical symptoms of overdoes they have seen and for how long they last after you have discontinued B1?

Vitamin B1 overdose: typical symptoms and for how long?
what symptoms do you have? How high a sublingual dose were you on?

Daphne, thanks for the reply. I read your book Parkinson's and B1 Therapy and as suggested started 100 mg sublingual from Superior Source on alternate days. I had taken 2 tablets when I noticed the following symptoms:
- Highly increased difficulty in walking due to dragging of feet. Right feel will simply not fall in straight direction.
- Increase dyskensia.
- Increase in fatigue during off period.
- Discomfort and pain in stomach after taking 100 mg tablet
I immediately reduced 3rd dose to 25mg (taken on Monday) but the symptoms didn't go. They reduced in severity but are still there. I am pausing the B1 for now and wondering if I should restart with an even lower (12.5 mg) of sublingual or mild dose (like 50 mg) of oral?
Any views?
Because you didn’t take a break after changing from 100mg, your thiamine levels were still high and caused the 25 mg to give you an overdose. I’m sure that after a 1 to 2 week break, the 25 mg x3/week will not cause an overdose. If it does, or if you want to be cautious, you could try 25 mg x2/week
I tried B1 sublingual 12.5 mg ( 1/8th tablet) yesterday after ~10 days gap. Same effect. Symptoms become more severe. Increased stiffness in legs, imbalance and slurring of speech, stomach ache. Maybe the sublingual composition is not suiting me. After due gap, when severity subsidizes, I am thinking of taking a mild dose (~2mg) via oral route to start with. I also think sublingual B1 is making C/L less effective. Earlier a 125 mg C/L will hold me good for 4 hours. After taking B1, off period starts at 3.5 hours and is more severe.
From your experience, have others faced similar situation with B1 trials? Is there a good doctor whom I can consult online for B1 trials? I am based out of Delhi.
Any insights will be helpful.
A dose which is too high can shorten ‘on’ time.
How often were you taking 12.5 mg sublingual? You could reduce it to once a week…?
I’m afraid there are no B1 trials yet. It’s something we are hoping for one day. We’re chasing funding.
The only doctor experienced at prescribing B1 only works face to face and works in Genoa, Italy.
Hi Sutensera,
I've just been through this scenario. I'll try to be brief:
Started B1 jabs twice a week (half dose-1ml) in my ass about 2 months ago.
After 2 days I felt much better - I couldn't believe it!
After one month on half dose I upped it to the full dose - 2ml twice week.
After 3 days developed chronic hiccups which gradually became violant.
Violant hiccups morph into Convulsions!!
After 3 weeks the convulsions cease. I wait another two weeks to be sure the B1 is fully flushed out.
I'm back on the half dose since last Saturday, and I'm starting to feel good again. I'll probably stay on the half dose. I can live quite nicely like this. I don't fancy getting the convulsons again.
My Conclusion The B1 definitely works, big time! If you can get the B1 ampoules, go the injection way - it's much easier to control your doses. My OD symptoms were hiccups /convulsons. However, OD symptoms can vary enormously from individual to individual. Mine, I think, were relatively severe, but that was my bad luck.
Good luck!
Dan.
HI.DOWNLOAD THE FREE KINDLE APP THEN BUY (VERY CHEAPLY) THE E BOOK BY DAPHNE BRYAN PHD. IT'S CALLED 'PARKINSONS AND THE B1 THERAPY'. THE FULL PROTOCOL IS COVERED AND I FIND THE (SHORT) BOOK A REAL EYE OPENER AND A GOOD SOURCE OF INFORMATION. GOOD LUCK.
Hi Sutenzera,
I posted recently about developing severe hiccucups and then convulsions after going on to the full dose of B1 (2 ml) from the half dose (1ml) after two months. These being the injectable method. I stopped the B1 immediately, but it took a month to flush the the B1 and for the convulsions to cease. During the month, all my PD symptoms returned. I'm back on the half dose now, the PD symptoms are diminishing, although the B1 effect is not so immediate this time around. I'll leave it 6 months before even think of the full dose, or even 3/4 dose. I can live with my current state quiet comfortably, but I will always wonder if the full dose would have cleared up my remaing symptoms.
