WOW! Great chrome add-on spots FAKE Amazon reviews for our stack of supplements!

PDWarrior1900 profile image

Nearly all of us take supplements, right?

If you are like me, I feel like I am shopping 'BLIND' for vitamins.

Sure, there are reviews. But how 'RELIABLE' are they?

And it takes FOREVER to search Google about every brand/company who manufactures a supplement. You NEVER KNOW if you are actually getting what you paid for.

I just discovered....

FAKEspot.com and they have a free Chrome add-on that SPOTS fake reviews (per their formula/ algorithm).

I'm taking over 40 supplements DAILY in my stack so God knows what the heck is inside all these bottles... But now at least I have a FIGHTING CHANCE NOT TO GET CHEATED!

Yipeee!

Take a look at this book which you can get on Amazon. It is a comparative guide to many supplements. Among other information in the book, it rates supplements based on 18 criteria and assigns products using a 5 star rating system.

This is the 6th edition, not sure if there is a 7th.

and if you had bothered to check instead of 'knee-jerk complaint' -- the ADD-ON is FREE at the Google Chrome webstore! DUHHHHHHHHH

Plus, do you think that two of the BIGGEST corporations in the WORLD... Google and Amazon ... would let just 'anyone' insert code into their website???

You can't get 'APPROVED by GOOGLE' in the Chrome Web Store unless you are LEGIT!

So try doing some 'THINKING' before you attack someone here on this forum.

Dìd you really type Duhhhhh ?How old are you 12😊 ?Serious points

- The basic app may be free but it makes money pushing adverts.

- you say "two of the BIGGEST corporations in the WORLD... Google and Amazon ... wouldnt let just 'anyone' insert code into their website???"

Well check out this link stating that Amazon is so concerned about the App that the Apple corporation banned it. Suggesting the app provided misleading information and potential security risks. :

cnbc.com/2021/07/16/apple-r...

How can an app tell if an amazon review is fake or not, especially when Amazon won't help them .

I'm sure you're well meaning but id suggest being careful on the ideas you push unchecked.

From what I can find, the Google Play store and Apple App stores may have removed Fakespot in 2021 but they seem to be back now. I tried the Chrome extension but MalwareBytes flagged dozens of potentially unwanted files! Nice idea but I don't want them grabbing all my data, including authentication information. I joined consumerlab.com/ several years ago to research supplements etc. Well worth the annual membership to make sure you are getting what you order.

PDWarrior1900 profile image
PDWarrior1900

i think consumerlab.com is questionable -- i did some research on them... did you know that they do NOT do their OWN testing? they sub-contract to many (questionable) 3rd party labs! so BUYER BEWARE on ConsumerLab.com

Plus they only got a 3.6 (out of '5' stars) rating on Trust Pilot:

trustpilot.com/review/www.c...

--------------------------------

Here's another source that reviewed the reputation of ConsumerLab.com

It got "80% positive" ... You'd think a company that touts itself as the judge on stuff we swallow and put inside our bodies would get a MUCH HIGHER rating than that, wouldn't you?

Here's a 3rd source to consider:

consumerlab.com.usitestat.com/

consumerlab.com

which ones are you taking?

PDWarrior1900 profile image
PDWarrior1900

you name it, i'm either taking it or used to take it

one day when i have time i'll make a list ...

Gioc profile image
Gioc in reply toPDWarrior1900

But if you use 40 supplements a day how do you recognize what they do for your health ? Have you ever thought that they may interact with each other and cause something unexpected?

PDWarrior1900 profile image
PDWarrior1900 in reply toGioc

you are 100% correct

i have no idea what the interactions might be

but i'm not a scientist ... and it would take FOREVER to research all my vitamins possible side effects

all i can tell you is that for more than a year i've been holding my various symptoms 'in check' without prescription meds which ABSOLUTELY have side effects

Gioc profile image
Gioc in reply toPDWarrior1900

But are you aware that some supplements can cause PD symptoms like tremor?

In my opinion it is also possible to cause the symptoms of PD so it would also be good to avoid taking those that have similar side effects.

PDWarrior1900 profile image
PDWarrior1900 in reply toGioc

well my neuro/MDS did mention that mucana prurians can have that 'tremor effect' -- any other supplements that you know of that can mimic PD?

Gioc profile image
Gioc in reply toPDWarrior1900

IMO almost any supplement that directly affects neurotransmitters has the potential to exacerbate Parkinson's disease symptoms because they always affect the delicate balance of a weakened PwPs brain when overdose. Thiamine or vitamin B1 itself, although it affects the brain at an energy level, is known to cause tremors in the event of an overdose in the absence of adequate dopamine. For this alleged reason in my experience thiamine should not be taken without levodopa and take ample breaks if overdose symptoms occur.

Stillstandingstill profile image
Stillstandingstill in reply toGioc

This is of interest to me as I'm taking B1 without levodopa. Have you a reference Gioc? I was under the impression that high dose B1 was fairly benign.

PDWarrior1900 profile image
PDWarrior1900 in reply toStillstandingstill

it is benign... see dr constantini in google... gillions of us are taking B1 without 'negative' effects

Gioc profile image
Gioc in reply toStillstandingstill

For the first part of your question, I refer you to a video by DR Costatntini, which perhaps PD Warrior will also appreciate,

of which I'll give you a transcript of only a small part because he is a demanding worker "done

by hand" because YT doesn't translate well.

The Doctor hoped not to use LDopa for early stage patients, but then explicitly states here

It is rarely possible to keep

this symptom free state with zero LDOPA given the extent of the PD lesion and IMO it is best to immediately use as much LDOPA as needed to correct all

motor symptoms according to research done in Ghana by DR. Cilia et al.

Citation:

0:46

UEE Question:"Regarding the symptoms,

this therapy actually goes even further than treatment

of the motor symptom alone..."

DR C Answer :" let's say the motor symptom in PD

it is the most serious and therefore the most

resistant to therapy for this we, a

many patients, for example,... some

patients who started only with the

vitamin B1 ... adding Ldopa, which

synergistic in practice in action,

we can also bring the patient to the

complete regression of symptoms."

Regarding the second part of your question regarding the high dose of b1the answer is more technical and complex,

I have had many benefits from HDT and no side effects after years of use.

Just remember that high dose is not overdose, they are two different things.

How much b1 is a high dose?

It depends on how much sugar you take, alcohol, simple carbohydrates and how many calories you consume, how you are fed, weight, extent of injury,

very personal right?

Overedose thiamine has definite symptoms which resolve immediately after a break of about a week.

Daphne Bryan's book has many examples of this and you can find a lot of support on her Fbook site.

We all know that, sadly, Dr. Constantini passed away from covid . My understanding that his clinic is still active and treating patients with PD. Do you have the contact information for that clinic? Thank you.

You can always read Daphne Bryan’s book “Parkinson and the B1 terapy” and find them all the information you are looking for, they sell it on Amazon.

this is why I regularly see a Functional doctor who suggests supplements, keeps tabs on my supplements i.e. interactions and dosages

There aren't any Functional doctors in your area. My regular movement dr doesnt have any knowledge of supplements so you have to go to someone who knows.
