Warnings: 1- Jimmy swears at one point in this video. 2 - If you start watching Jimmy Dore you will get red pilled and you might stop fitting into society.
Of particular interest, near the end, they talk about how Statins interfere with COQ10 and affect mitochondrial activity. Also lots of interesting/sad info on how studies work.
Jimmy Dore is not for everybody. He is a stand up comedian who does some of the best reporting on YouTube.
In this segment Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss some of the lies we’ve been told about how harmful cholesterol is and the major downsides of taking statins.
Yes, and cholesterol is essential to the function of the body and if you had no cholesterol you'd be dead! The brain is so dependant on cholesterol that it makes it itself. youtu.be/I7r4j1u42V8?si=eCm...
My dad was the chief of cardiology for a major hospital. Much to the chagrin of his colleagues, he swore for his entire career that the anti-cholesterol hysteria was nonsense, and when my GP prescribed me statins he begged me to flush them down the toilet.
FWIW, dad lived on cheese, eggs, and steak and lived to be 100. Of course he also drank a fifth of scotch every day and smoked like a chimney, so maybe he was just indestructible. But he was pretty adamant on the cholesterol point, and had a fair amount of science to back it up. (His main point was that inflammation was the culprit in congestive heart disease -- without irregularities in the arterial walls caused by inflammation, cholesterol can't stick to them.)
I dunno. Two internet docs--Huberman and Attia--take a daily statin. Huberman researches Parkinson's and Attia has written books on longevity. I take a statin but not religiously. As long as my cholesterol is under 200 I'm not concerned.
They certainly seem anti-inflammatory and I know also used in cancer (Jane Mcllenand) etc but I believe they are using specific ones and they also counter the side effects. Although for cancer I’ve just learnt one does not want high Co-q10, lordy it’s all a complicated puzzle.
Grain Brain talks about the cholesterol scam quite extensively. Good book, though I would take some of it with a grain of salt (pun intended). But that doesn't mean eating 10 eggs or having steak every meal is good for you either. Perlmutter explains in the book that the "bad" cholesterol LDL is actually how the body heals. This seems like a good explanation. youtube.com/watch?v=GC9V1TW...
