Buy BEFORE FDA BANS this! ... Vinpocetine

Tip of my hat to Bolt_upright who mentioned that he takes Vinpocetine in one of his posts.

It's considered a 'drug' in Europe and surprisingly (for now) has gotten past our "Fear and Death Administration" also known as the infamous, FDA.

I've added this to my stack of about 40 supplements. It's only $12, so what the hey, right?

This is the most potent formulation of Vinpocetine that I could find... 30 mgs per tablet.

5. Conclusion

"In conclusion, animals exposed to MnCl2 showed perturbations in the behavioural signs, histopathological examinations as well as molecular and biochemical signals of the brain due to oxidative stress, neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration."

" These perturbations were ameliorated by VIN, PUN, Niacin, Vit E and their combinations (the better effects) via suppressing oxidative stress, inflammatory cascades, apoptosis as well as GSK-3ß activity, besides restoration of basal ganglia neurotransmitters and hence enhanced animal motor functions and decreased their catalepsy score. "

"Therefore, these agents could inhibit neuronal cell death and might be considered auspicious agents to revert MnCl2-induced Parkinson’s disease."

i just bought a year's supply for under $50 from here!

BIG PHARMA is pressuring the FDA to ban this now! You can't get it anymore on Amazon in this triple-strength ... and expect Amazon (and others) to ban it entirely

Can you take this with Parkinson medication? How much do you take? Is there a test to see if your body needs it? Thanks for your help

Thanks for the heads-up. Vinpocetine is a Nootropic and hopefully will remain available on other sites besides Amazon. I like this brand, I try to avoid fillers in my supplements. nutrimentboutique.com/produ...

I ordered some vinpocetine a few years ago, but didn't take it for very long. I don't remember exactly why I stopped, but I think I read about some possible adverse effects.

It does have a list of possible side effects, so do take care.

webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingre...

"When taken by mouth: Vinpocetine is possibly safe for most people when used appropriately for up to one year. It can cause some side effects including anxiety, stomach discomfort, sleep problems, headache, dizziness, and flushing of the face."

drugs.com/npc/vinpocetine.html

"Be sure to tell your doctor that you take this product if you are scheduled for surgery or tests.

Do not use this product if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant soon. Use birth control you can trust while taking this product.

Do not use this product if you are breastfeeding.

Take extra care if you are taking drugs to thin your blood. These are drugs like warfarin, heparin, or enoxaparin.

Take extra care if you are taking drugs to dissolve blood clots. These are drugs like alteplase, reteplase, or streptokinase.

Take extra care if you are taking drugs to help with swelling or inflammation. These are drugs like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen.

Take extra care and check with your doctor if you have:

Liver problems

Bleeding problems

Blood pressure problems

Hard stools or difficulty having a bowel movement

Seizures

What should I watch for?

Upset stomach

Dry mouth

Heartburn

Flushed face

Feeling anxious

Trouble sleeping

When do I need to call the doctor?

Signs of a very bad reaction. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Go to the ER right away.

Signs of low blood pressure like feeling dizzy, weak, or tired; fainting; more thirst; or skin that is pale, cool, and clammy.

Very bad throwing up

Very bad loose stools

Bruising or bleeding that is not normal

Blood in your stools or dark, tarry-colored stools

I also had posted to a prior post the good and bad on Vinpocetine. It is not "natural" but a synthetic. As is it a prescription in Europe, I would look there for proper safe dose of supplement.

Overview

Vinpocetine is a synthetic derivative of apovincamine, a compound found in periwinkle (Vinca minor) (10827). While not approved as a drug in the US, vinpocetine is sold as a prescription drug under the brand name Cavinton in several European countries. It is used for cognitive impairment and stroke; however, few double-blind clinical studies supporting its use have been published (1785,68731,92932).

WARNINGS

In the US, vinpocetine is included as an ingredient in dietary supplements, but its status is controversial. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) acknowledged new dietary ingredient notifications for vinpocetine in the 1990s. However, in September 2016, the FDA issued a tentative conclusion that vinpocetine may not meet requirements to be considered a dietary supplement. They requested comments about this conclusion from stakeholders (92936). In June 2019, the FDA issued a statement of warning that those who are pregnant or who could become pregnant should avoid vinpocetine due to possible safety concerns (95751).

Safety

POSSIBLY SAFE ...when used orally and appropriately for up to 12 months

Thanks for the heads up. Hubby’s been on it for a few months now.. but I’m not sure if it’s helping. Actually, I take it sometimes also, and though I’m healthy, I could swear it boosts my mental clarity on the days I take it.
