Does anyone know anything about the clinical trials going on in the UK with Ambroxol as a treatment for PD (a repurposed cough medicine)? The preliminary results look good. I understand that results have been released but I can't find It. Please reply if you have info. Thanks

It is sold as Mucosolvan in the EU. I am going to be buying it next month when in Holland for my husband to try. Everything I have read has been positive about it.

Thank you Jrhaz. I have been buying it from a company in the UK (Repositioned Pharmaceuticals Limited) but now they cannot supply the demand. Do you have any suggestions where I might order some on the internet? Doing without in the US!

The results that are available are from an open label trial, meaning, with no placebo group. Ambroxol looked promising, but unfortunately, a LOT of things look promising when they aren't tested alongside a placebo.

This new, placebo-controlled trial has barely started...as usual, these things take FOREVER.

That being said, I take it. It has no downside as far as I can tell, except that the dose is huge, at least 1000mg a day if not more, and the most you can get in any one pill is 75mg (do the math!)

Hello amykp . Are you still taking Ambroxol?

Any side effects?

Yep. No bad effects that I notice. My PD is still reasonably slow progressing, but I do a lot of things, so can't say it's only that!

Would you please share what do you do to slow the progression of PD?

Thank you in advance!
