Are you HEALING your GUT???

To help heal my gut, today is day #252 of my O.M.A.D. diet (one meal a day, eaten within a 90 minute window). I've lost over 50 pounds! So easy! I still can eat healthy... pizza... potatoes... fruit!

"The researchers studied 257 species of organisms in the microbiome, and of these, analysis indicated 84, more than 30%, were associated with Parkinson’s disease."

Good job you! Here is a list of diets that are purported to heal the gut. Personally I follow a Gluten and Lectin free version of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (although I do have real sugar due to my Pepsi addiction): theceliacmd.com/diets-for-l...

I've also been gluten free for 252 days in a row!

Today I just ordered this Kombucha tea from Amazon... HIGHLY RATED!

local company -- makes their stuff in USA

what i'm trying to do now is eat my fermented (yuk) foods...

over and over i read/watch docs in-the-know say that our gut will benefits from fermented foods...

i've tried the kimchi ... yuk... i could try again

i've had a big jar of organic saukerkraut in my fridge (best deal for this is Costco) ... but it's only half eaten after 5 weeks...

I've tried lots of yoghurt... while it tastes good... it is NOT good for my "belly" (too many calories!) ...

So now I'm determined to each more saukerkraut and try this kombucha tea

For fermented beverages, try making water kefir. It's super easy, very low in sugar, you can flavor it with any fruits/veg/herbs you like, and the taste is much more mild than kombucha. I purchased kefir grains on Amazon. They grow exponentially with each batch! I'm always trying to give some away lol.

I’m with you on that - feel like I should be eating fermented foods but forever find them rotting in the fridge! Any palatable suggestions welcome

Try plain greek yogurt? add to other foods/soups in place of sour cream.

i did a LOT of yogurt -- but way too HIGH in calories and I'm on day #253 of my O.M.A.D. diet (one meal a day eaten within a 90 minute window -- i'm trying to heal my gut)... Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

i did.... plain... but still very high in calories (and FAT) ... and I'm not doing the KETO diet which recommends you eat 70% of your calories as "healthy fats"

you're talking about dr gundry and his vehement anti-lectins ... destroying the gut... that issue really doesn't concern me because of this:

How To Reduce Lectins In Food

"It is important to remember that eating foods with a high amount of active lectins is rare. One reason is that lectins are most potent in their raw state, and foods containing them are not typically eaten raw."

It is not only Dr Gundry. Also that Grain Brain doctor Perlmutter. I had read that article. They talk about "lowering" the amount of lectins. I am trying to eliminate them. Cooked beans and cooked tomatoes still have plenty of lectins.

I do kind of break the rules as I don't buy grass fed beef. Hopefully the corn protein is not making it through the cow to me :)

Here is an interesting article that points out that red kidney beans are really bad (so that is why they always blew out my intestines!). They call them "phytohemagglutinin" lectins webmd.com/diet/foods-high-i... but they are talking about red kidney beans.

I have a high school degree, but this is one of those instances where I will discount the expert's advice.

and what's wrong with "grass fed/ grass finished" beef?

the only 'beef' I eat are the hot dogs I buy from Costco that are grass fed and have...

no anti-biotics... no nitrates ... no nitrites... no sugar... no glutten

VERY HEALTHY! and they taste fantastic!

Nothing wrong with grass fed. Grass fed is the best! I just can't afford it :)

I guess i'm gonna die from lectins, then

I just reviewed: gundrymd.com/remove-lectins/

Just this past week, I ate at least half a dozen things on his 'no no no' list...

No oatmeal?

No tomatoes?

No baked potatoes?

No cucumbers?

I'd have to jump through hoops to eat them the way the good doc recommends...

Furrrrrrrrrrrrgetaboutit!

LOL
