Good topic to bring to our attention. Titanium dioxide in food has been banned in France as of this year.

"Highlights
TiO2 nanoparticles exposure is effective in disrupting the intestinal paracellular permeability.
TiO2 nanoparticles are efficiently internalized and entrapped in human intestinal epithelial cells.
Storage of TiO2 nanoparticles affects cell viability and promotes the production of TNF-α and IL-8."
List of foods containing titanium dioxide - see chart at this link:

Maybe this is why I have Parkinson’s!I’m a chocoholic - and titanium dioxide is common in chocolate. Also I’ve had colonic inflammation since I was 16. And now I wonder, Is there a way to fix this mess?
For starters, check the labels of your chocolates!
Cadmium and lead contamination in chocolate are also issues. You can check for that here:

Thanks PB. I switched to the quality stuff in my 40s But I’d eat almost any chocolate till then! I guess there’s no way of reversing this now.
Titanium dioxide is a white pigment in paint and makeup, probably not an issue if you don't ingest it. In M&Ms, it is probably in the outer coating to make it easier to color over the brown chocolate. We need to rethink food coloring. For example some have been blamed for contributing to hyperactivity in children.
A good example of successful rethinking in food/supplements is vitamin C. When we are using food (corn) to make fuel, it doesn't make since to synthesize it with petroleum when we can grow it with rose hips. Thus, virtually all vitamin C is grown with rose hips.
We should consider ways of growing food coloring that has nutritional added value. Now food coloring usually has no added nutritional value and risks being detrimental. Not all organically grown chemicals are safe. Night shade, a black tomato, is poisonous, but useful for dilating your eye by temporarily paralyzing the iris muscles. If you ingest it, it will paralyze your breathing and heart, you will die before it wears off.
However, many dark colored fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants. The dark color can help block intense sunlight and UV. It would be a plus if food coloring were an antioxidant. We need more organic chemistry involved in food processing to ensure that chemicals added to food are beneficial.
My son bought some popsicles made with strawberries (supplied color), citric acid as preservative, and turmeric for additional color.
