Statins

BWP takes 3 sinemet, has been prescribed statins.

Does anyone have any experience to offer please on any side effects, are other PWP taking them please?

I take Co-careldopa, rasagiline & atorvastatin. No side effects.

Years ago (approx 30 years pre PD dx) i was put on statins and had to come off them within weeks because of severe muscle cramps. So i couldn't even consider them as PD comes with its own muscle cramping problems

Have been on 10mg Atorvastatin for approximately 10 years. No side effects that I can attribute to this statin. Has kept cholesterol below 160.

I have been taking Sinemet and Atorvastatin since March with no side effects. I take 3 Sinemet daily and one 10mg statin.

I take 10 mg atorvastatin. There have been some studies that suggest statins that cross the blood brain barrier (simvastatin, atorvastatin) may actually reduce the risk of PD.

Statins are anti-inflammatory drugs (that's partly how they work) and PD is at least partly an inflammatory disease.

I don't know if it really helps, but I don't feel any side effects.
