Hi everyone, my name is Axter and I live in Italy. These days my doctors have prescribed me opicapone in combination with levodopa. I currently take 600mg of Sinemet, 10mg of selegiline and 3 grams of Vitamin B1 per day. I wanted to ask who takes opicapone their experience in this regard. Any suggestion for a good, professionally and humanly, neurologist who works in Italy and specifically in Rome will also be welcome. Thanks and good health to all.
opicapone: Hi everyone, my name is Axter... - Cure Parkinson's
opicapone
My husband's medication is almost identical to yours and he was prescribed Opicapone a few months ago to flatten the peaks and troughs of his Sinemet. Initially, it appeared to work well, but a week later his balance became very bad, and he felt unwell. We stopped the Opicapone and he has felt much better, though his balance is still not as good as it was (maybe that's just the Parkinson's). I spoke to the Parky nurse who said that the new drug was probably creating too much dopamine in his system and that reducing his Sinemet by one or two tablets would hopefully have the effect we were looking for. I would like to try this as it would enable us both to get more out of the day. I'm just worried that it may cause him problems again.
Diagnosed in November 2015.
