I'm being prescribed a COMT inhibitor Opicapone to try and extend my 'on time'. I was wondering if anyone uses this already and has it worked for them? šŸ¤”

I use entacapone (same drug family) within Sastravi and itā€™s fine.

Have you checked on the price of entacapone lately?

I get it within the combo drug Sastravi (generic of Stalevo). The cost of Sastravi is half that of Stalevo but as I am over 60, I do not pay for my prescriptions with the NHS.

When you say it's fine. How has it helped you. What symptoms has it helped with?

It is the only medication I have ever taken and only ever have very slight tremor and loss of right arm swing.

I am using Opicapone from December 2018. At beginning it was fantastic, but after some months I found it working no more. Next week I am going to the neurologist which prescribed it and I will ask him if I must continue or not

I'm getting terrible dystonia 2 hours after my sinemet. The idea was that the opicapone would extend this to 3 hours. When you say its Not working for you anymore, what do you mean?

Before Opicapone my time on after taking Levodopa was about 3-3, 30 hrs. With Opicapone I reached 4-5 hrs. Another good thing was that I stopped cramps to my feet when awaking too early in the morning. But now I returned as before. I don't know if it is natural progression of PD or if it is Opicapone that after some time ceases working.

Sorry my bad English. I'm Italian

Hi Gingerj. I hope you are doing well. I came across this post while researching opicapone. Are you still taking this medication? Could you tell me more about your experience taking opicapone, please?
