I realise that many may state, it was just in mice, so not that relevant.
However, I believe that there is some value in this process. Considering that the two drugs are already approved for various treatments.
Why would the theory of combining the two drugs via the nasal passage not be plausible? As the Olfactory Bulbs have plenty potential to reach the brain region.
After further researching into the past studies in using Rifampicin and or Resveratrol for neurological disorders, other studies have shown benefits as well. Therefore there is an opportunity to have similar desired affect in humans.
I located the formula for Rifampicin as a 1% nasal spray in the USA.
Then I contacted the Editor in Chief of The International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding (IJPC), and discussed Rifampicin 1% Nasal Spray. They have the formula on their website.
Then I researched and found Resveratrol as a nasal spray: Linfovir Plus Nasal Spray.
So, why could I not try these one after each other as a nasal spray once or twice a day, as according to the studies, and see if there are any benefits?
As I stated earlier, Rifampicin is currently widely used, however when consumed orally it has side effects; such as affecting the liver.
Therefore, because I reside in Australia, I am searching for some compounding pharmacies here in Melbourne that would be able to assist with the Rifampicin as a nasal spray.
By the way, this is not for me, I care for my mother full time, and this is for her.
I am trying to find anything plausible, with minimal side effects to give to her, as she has Lewy Body Dementia.
Any feedback would be welcomed.
Best Wishes to all.

Unlike some other mouse models, the A53T-mutant α-synuclein-transgenic mouse is an excellent PD model.
Very clever these investigators are:
"However, oral rifampicin occasionally induces adverse effects such as liver dysfunction ... These undesired actions are considered to occur during the drug’s first pass from the intestine to the liver. We assumed that these adverse effects could be avoided by administering the drug intranasally, because the drug injected into the nasal cavity is efficiently delivered to the brain by passing through the nasal mucosa epithelium and transported less to the liver"
Even so it would be wise to keep tabs on her liver enzymes.
If you are able to obtain this let us know how your mom does. Disease modifying treatments typically take months instead of the hours needed for symptom relieving meds.
I had read this particular trial myself somewhere, don't remember the site. If you decide to have your mom use it, please give us an update after she is on it for sometime.
This is very interesting: "Rifampicin is an antibiotic used to treat several types of mycobacterial infections including Mycobacterium avium complex, leprosy, and in combination with other antibacterials to treat latent or active tuberculosis."
Brings me back to a pathogen.
There was also something recently on a nasal probiotic for PD.
I have not posted on this yet. And did I mention I only have a HS degree?
So # 1 I have a bottle of Yakult every morning. Lots of reasons to like Yakult, but to the oral microbiome point, Yakult is a drink so I swish it around my mouth and let it slowly go down my throat.
I also make a mixture of 1 teaspoon ground Chamomile Flower, 1 teaspoon ground Nigella Sativa, and one teaspoon Ceylon Cinnamon (my teaspoons are heaping) with 3 pieces of licorice. I just eat this dry a little at a time with a spoon twice a day (well before my first mean and well after my last meal). I chew it some and let it sit in my mouth as long as possible so it goes down my throat slowly. These are all antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory. I'm trying to treat my microbiome from gut to mouth.
Okay, I am doing this from memory so I may get things wrong. I wanted Apigenin but I did not want an extract as I think extracts may be missing important natural things. I considered celery seed but I have Hashimoto's and was worried it was too much. Chaomile flowers have apigenin and I read other good things about them and they were cheap so I went with them. I will expand on all the things I use soon.
I have at least two tablespoons of minced garlic every day..
As far as parsley and cloves: There is a limit to how many things I can do. I cut my "twice a day" supplements to "once a day" just so I can get all of my supplements taken by noon (except for the four I take about an hour before bed).
This is my complete protocol as of today (I am adding a probiotic tomorrow):
Every Day:
1. Follow the Solar Cycle: I get up when the sun comes up. Got to bed no later than 11:30 PM. Wear blue blockers after 8 PM.
2. Specific Carbohydrate Diet: Has been shown to normalize the microbiome.
3. Circadian Diet: Only eat when the sun is out.
4. Intermittent Fasting: Only eat during a 4-5 hour window. Usually sometime between Noon and 6 PM.
5. High Dose Thiamine (B1): Currently 1500 first thing in the morning, taken with 2000 mg of Magnesium L-Threonate.
6. Broccoli Sprout Tea for Sulforaphane: Drink it between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM so I am boosting Nrf2 while my circadian rhythm is on the upstroke.
8. Selenium plus Inositol: 100 mcg L-Selenomethionine plus 750 mg Inositol: May lower anti-thyroid antibodies (I have Hashimoto's).
9. Berberine: 400 mg. Neuroprotective. Note to self: Identify more reasons why you are taking this. May need to take a break from this after 12 weeks.
10. Vinpocetine: 30 mg (with food or your body absorbs nearly none of it). Supposed to increase blood flow to the brain.
11. Curcumin BCM-95: (BCM-95 means it has Curcumin oil in it) 650 mg. Antioxidant.
12. Saffron: 50 mg.
13. Niacin 250 mg Time Released: 1 hour before bed.
14. NAC 1200 mg with Taurine 1000 mg: 1 hour before bed.
15. CBD Oil: Right before bed.
16. Mixture of 1 teaspoon ground Chamomile Flower, 1 teaspoon ground Nigella Sativa, and one teaspoon Ceylon Cinnamon (my teaspoons are heaping) with 3 pieces of licorice.
17. Exercise: 20 minutes on the treadmill. Long walks when the weather is nice.
18. Exercise plus Red Light: 20 minutes on the recumbent bike with the red light shining on the back of my head. I follow this with hydrogen water.
Thank you Bolt for sharing your regimen. Regarding the parsley, I meant instead of chamomile. The dried parsley has far more Apigenin.
I strongly recommend you reconsider the niacin especially time released.
We have a lot of overlap in what we are doing; blue blockers, fasting, etc.
You reminded me about broccoli tea. I need to get with it on that! I have (expensive) broccoli supplements. And I need to reorder saffron. You reminded me of both. I’m doing so much but something is working because my symptoms are almost gone.
Good for you matcharoe! Glad to hear things are working.
I've been debating dropping saffron. It is always my goal to cut supplements.
Right now my protocols seem to be helping also (I have not been diagnosed with PD, I have REM Sleep Behavior Disorder [plus some other concerning symptoms]) so I want to be cautious about making changes.
I will likely reorder saffron today so I can keep a steady protocol for 30 more days.
Regarding the Resveratrol, Dr. David Sinclair who literally discovered it’s benefits, has said that it needs to be combined with a fat for intestinal absorption. I’m presently taking it most days with olive oil for oleic acid. Thank you very much for this intranasal version. I will seek it out. My Dad has LBD and has responded well to a high dose of curcumin
