Good luck. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2005. I wasn't told of the beneficial effects of exercise. Luckily, I am still able to get around well enough and do some walking daily inside my house, sometimes using a walker. Fatigue is often a problem, but the antidote for fatigue is said to be exercise.

My husband was diagnosed aged 49 , 12 years ago , he was a marathon runner but gave up due to foot cramping. Two years ago after retirement he joined a physio led gym , built up has core and stamina and us back running, he ran Leicester half marathon last year in just under two hours. Regular medication, good diet , exercise including Pilates, and high dose Vit B1 has all really helped . Good luck with your run 🏃‍♀️

That is great!! I also am an ultra/‘marathon runner diagnosed with Parkinson’s going on 6 years . My dr encourages me to continue the only distance he is concerned with is my 50 milers , my body fatigues to much so I’ve stopped doing that distance. I also do Tough Mudder and my 30 year old son has signed he and myself for a Spartan Race in Monterey in June. This July I am running the San Francisco Marathon for Parkinson’s . I am very excited . I have previously done this marathon 5 times before Parkinson’s so this time it’s taken on a more important meaning . When I ran the California International Marathon my dr made me a shirt that said , “ A New Way Of Dealing With PD - Positive Determination. “ Do you take more meds when you are running longer distances ? I find that I need to. You are amazing . I would like to compare notes with you sometime. Keep running . Karen
