Has anyone tried Hardy’s daily essential nutrients, Hardy’s inositol and Hardy’s greens and probiotics?
My husband had serious anxiety, depression and apathy to the point of feeling suicidal before Christmas. He was put on prescription sertraline an antidepressant and a small amount of mirtazapine and had been taking them for about 8 weeks with not much improvement. Then he started on Hardy’s daily nutrients, Hardy’s greens and probiotics and Hardy’s inositol and within days he had started to come right and now he seems very upbeat mentally. The psychiatrist will no doubt say the drugs finally started working but it seemed too much of a coincidence that he felts so much better only a couple of days into taking the Hardy’s products. He had tried many different herbals before that with not much results.
I'll make enquiries, thank you LAJ. I don't have PD. It was my husband who had it but I do have some symptoms in common with PD and it sounds as if the Hardy's products could be helpful.
They have an everyday one for people who aren’t unwell as a general supplement for anyone, and the Daily essential nutrients are clinical strength which you need a note from your doctor to say you aren’t on antidepressants and if you are they want to monitor you as you can become over medicated as the nutrients work.
The DEN come with a free support line that you can call to get advise and they call you regularly to check you aren’t showing signs of too much of anything.
Both inositol and probiotics/synbiotics are shown to improve depression and both can be used as adjunctive treatment to an existing regimen of anti depression meds. Anti depression meds can easily take weeks to a month or two to reach their full potential, so you can't entirely rule them out as at least partially responsible for the improvement or possibly a confluence of all that he is taking. It would be worth keeping that in mind should he decide to eliminate any of them.
He has tried a range of probiotics before these, plus I have had him on individual b vitamins and a multi vitamin for ages and HDT. I swapped out all the individual vitamins and minerals for the Hardy’s except the extra thiamine. I was surprised the Hardy’s worked so quickly given there shouldn’t have been much different in it than what he had already been taking for ages. Their product has ALA, ALC, NAC and other things in their proprietary mix too so as well as traces of lithium and other trace minerals. Perhaps coming from Canada it is better quality than some of the other supplements he has been taking.
The other things he has been taking are the restore gold and digestive enzymes, plus fish oil and ubiquinol but he had been taking them a while.
Much of all that you just mentioned would have anti depressant qualities as well as antioxidant qualities which again would likely result in anti depressant qualities and potentially anti inflammatory qualities.
You can get all of these things from real food. For instance, myo-Inositol is naturally present in a variety of foods, although tables of food composition do not always distinguish between lecithin, the bioavailable form, and the unavailable phytate form in grains. Foods containing the highest concentrations of myo-inositol (including its compounds) include fruits, beans, grains, and nuts.Beans and grains, however, contain large amounts of phytate.
Yes, you would thinks so but the Hardy’s advertising material says food these days is depleted, plus anyone mentally unwell needs larger amounts than can be found in food. We eat a very healthy balance diet with no rubbish yet within a few days of taking these he was feeling so much better it was like night and day. I really didn’t expect such a rapid improvement as we have been very careful to eat well and I always research nutrients and feed him food with the ones he needs in it.
It is worth a try a if you have anxiety and depression. I will be interested to hear if it works as well for others.
Thanks LAJ. I would like to have my husband try Hardy's products. Guess it's a Canadian based company, would they ship it to the US? However, I may have to delay until April, as we are going to talk to Dr. Laurie Mischley, the Washington (state) based homeopathy doctor. She only takes PD patients.
I would think they would ship it to the US if they ship to New Zealand. I would get him on it as soon as possible to see if it makes a difference, and she may be able to improve him even further! If he is difficient in any minerals or vitamins it makes sense to top him up. Homeopathic cures are quite dilute. If he has a deficiency will they be strong enough to bring him up to normal levels? Or does she use full strength supplements too?
We haven't talked to her yet, appointment is in April. I believe she is pretty good and specializes in PwP. A lot of people on this site know her. Check her out on your you tube.
Forgot to say he is also taking d-ribose for about a 3 weeks so not sure if this has added to his improvement. It has just run out so not sure if I should reorder. It will be interesting to see whether not taking it will make a difference.
