Here are several different articles about prebiotic and probiotic(s)

(possibly in combination with each other). And the final article relates

to PwP oral infestation with gram negative bacteria and

aspiration pneumonia.

1) Fenugreek as adjuvant therapy with L-dopa

First of all, Fenugreek has been shown to be good adjuvant therapy with L-dopa:

Efficacy and safety of standardized extract of Trigonella foenum-graecum L seeds

as an adjuvant to L-Dopa in the management of patients with Parkinson

PwP consumed 300 mg of fenugreek capsules twice daily.

"In conclusion, IBHB can be useful adjuvant treatment with L-Dopa in management

of PD patients."

2) Prebiotic + probiotic

Galactomannan from Trigonella foenum‐graecum L. seed: Prebiotic application

and its fermentation by the probiotic Bacillus coagulans strain MTCC 5856

"Galactomannan was extracted from the fenugreek seeds as per the proprietary

method (chemical and enzymatic) of Sabinsa Corporation, USA, by following

current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). This commercial product is sold

under the brand name Fenumannan® which contains minimum 60% of galactomannan."

"The galactomannan was fermented and utilized (71.4%) by the B. coagulans

MTCC 5856, and also significant amount of short‐chain fatty acids production

was also observed."

A probiotic only:

Probiotic correction of intestinal dysbiosis in Parkinson’s disease

"Constipation is an important non-motor symptom in PD."

"Compared with pre-treatment, NMSS scores decreased from 30.1±11.0 to 17.3±5.4

(p<0.01), defecation frequency increased from 1.8±0.6 to 3.7±1.1 per week

(p<0.01)."

"Conclusions: PD accompanied with the development of intestinal dysbiosis.

The introduction of probiotics (E. faecium L3) may contribute to correction of

microbiota imbalance and reduce manifestations of dyspepsia and constipation."

Probiotics which generate B vitamins or butyric acid. In my 'short chain fatty

acid' posting it was noted that butyric acid is good for constipation. But if

you are not constipated you can choose a specific probiotic which produces,

thiamine, riboflavin, or folate. Certain probiotics produce all three

B vitamins. Having an inbuilt bacterial-producing multi B vitamin is an interesting idea. There is an chart listing each probiotic and its associated short chain fatty

acid/B vitamin. I found this article after noting that Park Bear's constipation

is improved by taking thiamine.

Beneficial effects on host energy metabolism of short-chain fatty acids and

vitamins produced by commensal and probiotic bacteria

The following article notes the relationship of gram negative colonization

in Parkinson's disease patients mouths with aspiration pneumonia.

The incidence of oral Gram-negative bacteria in patients with Parkinson's

disease

"We found that the oral cavity of 16 (32%) of the patients with Parkinson's

disease was abnormally colonised with Gram-negative bacteria and that

Gram-negative bacteria were more likely to occur in those patients in whom

oromuscular dysfunction was present (88% vs. 21%; p<0.05). Conclusion:

Further work is required to determine the association between oral flora

and the pathogenic organisms found in aspiration pneumonia as well as work

on innovative treatments to reduce oral Gram-negative bacteria in those

patients at particular risk of aspiration pneumonia."

So what can be done about gram negative bacteria in your mouth?

Years ago I had poor gums and poor dental insurance. I had receding/bleeding gums and my insurance would not cover going to a periodontist.

Having no option I did an internet search and tried OraMD, the botanical oil

blend of peppermint, spearmint, and almond oil(s) and in short order I could

see the bleeding stop and my gums re-grow. It was the first natural product I

tried and it worked well. I recommended it to a co-worker who had terrible

gums from having a prior drug problem and it too regrew his gums.

"Conclusions: The composite mixture of peppermint, spearmint, and almond

oils has effective antibacterial activity against Gram positive and Gram

negative oral bacteria although appears to be most effective against

Gram negative species."

On the bottle they recommend brushing your teethe with 2-5 drops. I have

never used more than 3 because it is a powerful oil and your mouth will

never taste fresher.

Hi, thank you for posting, very interesting. Another very easy product to use a 3% hydrogen peroxide. You can incorporate it into your dental hygiene every single day. You can use it as a mouthwash and also as a dipped toothbrush for brushing teeth. Just in case your mouth is very sensitive you can dilute with water. We have been using it at full strength at 3%. Never ever bad breath anymore. Your gums are great, look great and feel great.

Thanks for reminding me about hydrogen peroxide - HP. I investigated HP 3 years ago (or so) and read the following PDF with the possibility of using it as a tool to reduce/eliminate my (now gone) osteoarthritis symptoms. Once I used topical DMSO, unsaponifiables, baicalin/scutellaria baicalensis, hydrogen peroxide was not needed.

Here is the book I read about HP:

sounds very harsh, you know a lot of natural foods have antceptic properties, coconut oil and garlic being the well known two but I've since learne that a lot of spices are anticeptic and even kill worm infestations. a recommendation ? lol. cinnamon being one of them, but don't go overboard with it, this is according to my atlas of natural cures by glenn s. roth field. cinnamon apparently is carcinogenic if you ingest it too liberly..

The only time I ever had to look into worms was when a floor mate (shared the same floor, fridge, bath....) exposed me to and infected me with pinworms. Besides wanting to drag him downstairs and give him a proper bath in the clothes washer and dryer, I found the OTC remedy worked nicely:

walmart.com/ip/Reese-s-Pinw...

When you mentioned cinnamon I guessed the active ingredient trans-Cinnamaldehyde was the reason for its anti-helminthic effect:

Antihelmintic activity of trans-cinnamaldehyde and A- and B-type proanthocyanidins derived from cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)

nature.com/articles/srep14791

It appears trans-cinnamaldehyde has anti-helminthic activity but is eliminated from the body quickly thus limiting its effect. Perhaps adding piperine to the cinnamon would help make it more effective:

patents.google.com/patent/W...

Also, if intestinal worms are the issue I would check for an enteric coated cinnamon extract because it will be specifically delivered to the small intestine. I don't know if such a supplement exists.

I know about trans-cinnamaldehyde because it has been studied in association with PD:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

As for garlic and coconut you are on the money because most (alternative) sites recommend their use:

Off to work here.....

tks, good to know. had no idea probiotics produced vitamins..... more evidence that gut health is conducive to mental health, health in general. I take kefir, fermented milk.

I also learned that hydrochloric acid is essential for absorption of all nutrients. you start there.... i'm trying apple cider. should take it before each meal.

Xylitol in this instance might be helpful - reduces Gram-negative bacteria in the gut, so I assume also in the mouth:
