The connections keep coming. Vibration therapy ("mimics exercise") shakes up the microbiome in the gut, improving conditions for beneficial bacteria (by 17 fold), which makes more short-chain fatty acids (DHA, etc), which cuts down on inflammation (in body, arteries, heart, and brain).
Or maybe it's a much faster, smaller vibration that you don't really feel but works to reduce the inflammation that causes PD tremor? I think that's what the articles say. Nice to have a non-drug option for a change. And if it mimics exercise for those who can't exercise I'm all for it!

I didn’t see any mention of the possible effects with respect to PD. Mostly the effectiveness was for diabetes. Just curious why PWP would see benefits. Forgive me if I missed something. I think this equipment would be expensive and I would happily make the investment if I saw some indication that PWP could/would benefit. My exercise is now very limited due to back problems and my balance. Desperation is settling in FAST.
I have back problems too. Try focusing not on what you can’t do but on what you CAN do. Increase slowly and incrementally, bit by bit. I do Tai Chi every day which is gentle and good for back problems. I also go to therapeutic yoga class at least once a week. Excellent for back issues. You will get better. Keep the faith - John G
Thanks for this. Have done all that but just can’t any more. Was boxing for 3 years too! Back pain is constant and increases with any activity including short walks. Balance difficulties increasing too. Not giving up but looking for alternatives!
I switched from boxing to Tai Chi. Much better for me. Easier on the joints and builds strength slowly. Works on postural muscles. When I come home after 1.5 hr tai chi workout I lay on Bemer pad for 15 minutes. That usually alleviates back pain. Hope this helps - JG
I think Parkinson’s and diabetes are linked in some way. Things that keep blood sugar levels down seem to benefit both so I wouldn’t be surprised if it helps both.
Here's a quote from the first article: " A 2016 systemic review of whole body vibration therapy in human patients with type 2 diabetes concluded there may be beneficial effects from the technique in terms of muscle strength and balance. However, outside of mobility and balance, there was insufficient evidence to support any other health claims."
Gee, it ONLY improved muscle strength, mobility, and balance! As a PwP, I'll take that!
