Has anyone had bad dental experience who suffer from Crohns.?
My husband just spent a small fortune 2 years ago having a few dental implants. They healed well initially but now one has fallen out and the others have shifted.
Our very experienced dentist has never see this scenario in 30 years. Now one of his own teeth has an ulcer that has not responded to antibiotics. The dentist is making noises about a possible Crohns connection.
My husband was on Humira for 3 years a few years ago but is not taking any medication now.
Any help or opinions welcome.

I have had Crohns for more than 20 years and I have had 4 implants for about 5 or 6 years and so far no problems, touch wood as the saying goes, but then everyone is different. Has he discussed it with his specialist as my understanding is Crohns can affect any area of the digestive system from mouth to rectum but would think his Crohns doctor should be able to determine if it is Crohns related.
Thanks for your reply Jackup.Seeing his Crohns Dr in October . Not easy getting an appointment these days and will discuss it with him. However I did read yesterday that Crohns can cause teeth to shift . His dentist has been baffled as to why Steves implants have moved and become loose but I guess it could be disease. What to do next is the big question whether to abandon previous extensive work or to have another go.
That really is unfortunate and I can understand the dilemma, To spend the money on implants only to see them fail had to be very frustrating, and now to have to decide whether to invest even more without know if they will fail again. Hopefully the doctor will have some answers and advice on what to do next.
I did 2 implants. One is so far ok, but the other one is casing me problems because it was put on a place without sufficient bone (Which I was tricked by the doctor). They changed the skrew 1 time, because the crown got loose not the actual implant. I don't think mine is anything related with crohn's . The only thing that can go wrong is probably during and after surgery to have some infection due to imunosupresant therapy.
