advice needed urgently please

I have had Chrons for quite a few years now and always took 1/2 tablet mercapterpurine once a day. However I had to increase the dosage to 1 tablet per day a few months ago because I kept having flare ups. This has helped really well.

Until last week when I started bleeding like a period so today is day 6 but I am now 55 years old and went through a very early menopause aged 40 after ivf failed apparently not uncommon.

I can’t even get to speak to a gp yet and I won’t sit in casualty for 9 hours plus as I’m disabled and in constant pain.

My question is has anyone ever heard of or had a similar experience or can advise me if this could be Chrons related or not.

Thank you for reading this I’m sorry if it took so long.

None of us will know if it's Crohns related but it could be. Have you contacted your Gastro consultant or nurse for help? That's what I would do as the amount of bleeding you describe needs investigating quickly.

You need to speak to your IBD team urgently (if you can get hold of them right away! The only other option is to either get your GP to speak to the on duty gastro consultant at the hospital that you are under for advice or you go to A and E and if you choose your times right you wont be waiting 9 hours. 8am is a good time to go as it starts getting busier as the morning goes on. You could also phone 111 and they may tell you to go A and E. 6 days of bleeding needs stopping so I would act on it asap. Good luck!

Generally, post menopausal vaginal bleeding comes under the NHS 2 week fast track cancer referral via GP (it's usually not cancer). Your GP refers for urgent gynaecological investigations. My GP offered to examine me also, and I declined and just asked for the gynie referrals to be made. No need for A and E. (I don't know how Crohn's could be linked to vaginal bleeding but if there is any connection, you'd think a Gastro team would want you seen by gynie anyway).
