Cortiment/budesonide steroids

When you come off the 8 week course of cortiment oral steroids backed up towards the end with budesonide rectal foam , do you then become vunrable to infections.

I have ulcerative colitis and diverticula disease and initially was given antibiotics to clear up an infection caused they believe by the diverticula disease .

I have now also had vaginal discharge which is being tested as we speak, had my COVID booster jab as well , got up this morning with bloody mucus round my stools.

Could all this be down to stress and worry, which obviously I am.

Thank goodness I’m seeing my ibd consultant in 3 weeks.

This last couple of weeks have been horrendous

Hiya, the steroids do suppress your immune system so you often find yourself picking up infections more easily, hopefully your antibiotics will keep them at bay though, try not to worry too much, easier said I know, but three weeks will soon come around and hopefully you’ll get some answers.. take care x

Thankyou for saying that I just got so low after feeling so well , yes I hope the three weeks will go quickly I have a lot of things to ask her, haven’t seen anyone face to face for a year and half 😒

It’s terrible isn’t it, I can’t even remember last time I saw my consultant face to face, had two 3 minute phone calls over last 18 months 🙄I hope you get all sorted xx
