Hi there everyone. I had a diagnostic laparoscopy about 6 weeks ago as my gynaecologist suspected bowel endometriosis (this was within 6 weeks of seeing the consultant)Whilst I had some endometriosis nodules removed it wasn’t on my bowel. This is a bit concerning given all the bowel issues I’ve been having the past 2 years, changes in bowel habits to sudden urgency to go, bouts of diarrhoea, lower right sided abdomen pain, rectal pain, bloating and night sweats. I’m back to square one with not having a diagnosis but experiencing what are at time quite debilitating symptoms. My GP has fast tracked me down the colorectal assessment route to rule out cancer but I’m pretty sure it’s not that from the amount of time I’ve been symptomatic. My FIT test has come back negative so does this sound like UC or crohn’s. What do you think?TIA
Could it be UC or Crohn’s?: Hi there... - Crohn's and Colit...
Could it be UC or Crohn’s?
You will need a colonoscopy to get a diagnosis.
While I agree you would need a colonoscopy for confirmation of an IBD, personally, I would rule out Crohn’s as the pain is more lower left sided. I would ask them to check for Bile Acid Malabsorption (BAM) which often mimics IBD but has pain on the wrong side. In the meantime take care, be well, and stay safe.
Hi, I was just wondering if you got an IBd diagnosis? I read your post and I'm in a similar position. I've got diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2018. Also have coeliac disease 2014 diagnosed. But I've been struggling with my bowel for years still. Thought I might have bowel endo but I've just had my MRI results and they said I don't have it in my bowel? I do have it else where. In the last 3months I have been struggling with chronic Diarrhea on and off. And have lost so much weight. One week I lost 10lb! So I got my gp to investigate with bloods and stool samples. And my stool sample has come back positive for inflammation of the bowel so he is referring me to see a bowel specialist he thinks I have an IBD? What are you symptoms? Thanks tash x
So sorry to hear about your struggles. That’s a lot to put up with! I’m still being investigated. A recent CT scan showed up I have a pancreatic cyst so they have performed a CT colonoscopy to rule out anything ti do with the bowel before the attribute my symptoms to the cyst and before I go down the pancreatic route. So I’m still waiting on those results but feel I’m getting a little nearer! I hope you get some answers soon. Wishing you all the very best x
