Does IBD cause a swollen stomach, where you look about 6 months pregnant!?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this page but I wanted to ask a few questions about Crohn's/Colitis. Back in February this year, I had an inflammation at 996 on a Calprotectin test but I don't have the typical IBD symptoms, although I was vomiting and couldn't hold food down for around a week. I learnt to manage this pretty quickly with low amounts of fiber/anti-inflammatory foods and foods that're easy to digest. The flare up went away for about 4 months, can this happen? Although I feel like i'm very good at managing this, but also just 'surviving' with what I eat etc.

Can I still have crohn's without the typical or characteristic symptoms? I am having a Calprotectin test done again and I had a CT scan that showed nothing of importance except from slightly inflamed lymph nodes.

I started to take Ashwaganda for a hormone problem and I have started to 'flare' again. For me this looks like an extremely swollen stomach, so I took to the bed for a few days to try and get this down.

Do you think I should push further with IBD, I guess it all depends on my next Calprotectin test, too?

Any help would be much appreciated.

All the best,

L :)

I think you should proceed with your tests to confirm or deny IBD, enabling the correct treatment to be offered and delivered. The bloating is certainly common in IBD and also IBS patients. If you find a cure for the bloating, I will be your manager and we can both get rich. lol. In the meantime take care and stay safe.
