Help/Advice please

Hello everyone, I was diagnosed with microscopic colitis via colonoscopy and biopsy whilst living in India 5 years ago. I've never had any treatment and my GP isn't interested when I tell him about the pain I'm in. It's started to keep me awake at night now and I feel so miserable. I've also noticed quite a large indentation under my left rib where a lot of the pain seems to be focused. It feels like my stomach is on fire and throbs with the pain. Any advice who I can turn to/what I should do please? Thanks ♥️

You need to see a gastroenterologist, not your GP. A scope done 5 years ago needs to be repeated for an accurate diagnosis. If the pain is severe go to the hospital.

Thanks SuzyQ67, unfortunately, I have to get a referral from my GP to see a Gastroenterologist, guess I'll have to go back to him. He's very dismissive though

Keep pushing him, patients have to advocate for their care these days!

Budesonide is normally prescribed for MC. It is beyond the pale that your GP is not interested. Make an app't and tell him you are not satisfied, complain to him and if he does not take your complaint seriously take it else where. Make sure you tell him this is what you are going to do as well. I think you should go to your nearest hospital as an emergency, get examined and medication prescribed. One thing I have learnt about this disease is it can get very nasty indeed. You deserve the best treatment, so push for it. Go on now...and good luck!!

I've been given 2 two week referrals, one for a Gastroenterologist and another for a Colorectal Surgeon. I guess now I brace myself for the endoscopy and colonoscopy! Thanks again ❤️
