Our daughter has UC. We agree with her that a long period of stress was a possible trigger. (its true - we all get that wierd tummy when nervous. Fearful etc. All emotuons go to that area dont they!) Then a sensitivity to gluten came along! Despite being on it with her diet. Excecise etc her calprotectin level continues to be high so this week, and after much frustration, she did a 3 day bone broth treatment from a company called Clean Living. (totally on back of research) It resets the stomach but at same time lines the stomach with its collagen. (Important NOT shop bought as it needs to be fresh. Also KEEP taking Mezavant/meds as usual)
By day 3 she was hating it but perservered. On the back of it she is now doing a food diary so lets see what that brings. I will keep you updated. She has also been in touch with a nutrtionist with regards to GI mapping.

Hello. I hope the bone broth regime helps your daughter. I have Crohns (in the middle of a dire flare (for which I was hospitalised) but in the past I used Great Lakes powdered bone broth which I do believe helped me at the time. I would be really interested to know how your daughter gets on with this as I am considering doing this with the fresh broth as soon as I am off a totally liquid diet!
By day 3 and the final day of the broth cleanse she felt drained. The next day and back on to food she felt amazing and full of energy. So far so good☺️
Initially cramping and really loose stools with blood. Literally hadto bomb to the loo.Changing job and lifestyle has helped. Instagram had been an education. Its amazing the connections and contacts on there. A real community and you suddenly see you really are not alone.
She had a faecal test. Blood tests. Colonoscopy and biopsies.Investigations really got going when she ended up at Chelsea & Westminster A and E after a particularly marked bleed. They are brilliant 👍
The faecal test the calprotectin levels. The calprotectin is an indication of a flare. The colonoscopy gived them a look round part of the colon. The biopsies taken were to test for disease
Incidentally, if you roast a chicken, don’t waste the carcass. If you have a large saucepan, you can make bone broth, add a few vegetables, turmeric or herbs of choice, a little cider vinegar, pure water and simmer for about 5 hours, strain, the broth is very comforting and will set to a gel in the refrigerator due to the collagen. There’s lots of recipes on the internet. Probably try it first, when the patient is well. I make this if I suspect I’m going into a UC flare up.
I’m sure bone broth will help ... was very helpful to my son. I’m not advertising but listentoyourgut.com had been a savior .. loads of helpful tips n their elemental shake Absorb plus gave all the strength. Hope this helps you n are relived soon.
Morning! Just wondering how you are getting in with the bone broth? Hope it all worked out. Just started using bone broth myself, alongside the CDED diet.
