Nutrition advice for autoimmune diseases

Hi!

I’ve had UC from birth and I’m now 52!!

I’ve had many operations and thyroid cancer and problems from steroids use ie thin and broken bones.

I have an ileostomy and short bowel.

My question is what do you do use for better nutrition? I find that the NHS haven’t really helped me in this regard and I’m really struggling because my body is not getting what it needs to function.

I now have epilepsy!! I don’t go out much and am weak. I have vit D3 vit b12 injections and folic acid.

I keep looking at the protein shakes but I don’t think I can take them daily?

Are there any good multivitamin supplements in the U.K. that could help?

Hi Cath,

I do feel for you. I thought I had been through a lot - well I have(!). You obviously have too.

I buy my vitamins from Cytoplan as they are good quality natural state vitamins. They have an online questionnaire and will give you advice for free based on your illnesses, current medication and diet etc. I found them brilliant - and you can ask questions any time.

I hope all goes well for you.
