Yo, not been officially diagnosed with IBD yet but its looking pretty likely, consistently high inflammatory markers in my blood and stool as well as inflammation seen on an ultrasound in my terminal ileum. Got a small bowel MRI tomorrow as well!
Given that, I think my condition is fairly mild, I've only bled badly once and I never had to go to A&E but I was wondering if people with officially diagnosed crohns/colitis have large volumes of poop when they go. I've been able to fill up the toilet bowl twice in the evenings and thats even with me going about 3-4 times during the day. Does anyone experience large volumes of poop? It's usually mushy and watery too.
Thanks x

Hi I have ulcerative colitis diagnosed by a colonoscopy after the doctors thought it was IBD- I wouldn't say I 'd fill the toilet bowl but at worse I'd be going after every time I'd eaten or drank. This is a thought for you- my granddaughter has had bowel problems for some years and could fill the bowl which is abnormal for a 4 year old, she was put on movicol for constipation as it could have been leakages as was very watery at times however her parents stopped this med and put her on dairyfree food and then started putting her on the toilet after eating - her stomach is no longer distended and her bowels are fine. The point of this- maybe a food allergy. Hopefully you will get sorted soon. Anita x
Hi, if you dispose of large amounts of mushy/bloody stuff it is a sign your colon is shedding its lining and not able to hold/bind the water to the stool. It is typically a sign of inflammation with an IBD disease or gastritis/infectious colitis if not IBD related. You have to watch out for dehydration, if there is a lot of blood obviously becoming anemic. If Chrohns you may also loose weight and not absorbe nutrients that well anymore if you have large loose watery frequent bowel movements.
What was the results of your MRI ? What did the doctors advise you ?
Hi, I had my MRI on the Sunday just gone and I've not had my results back yet but I had a really bad reaction to the barium fluid and had diarrhoea almost immediately so it was a bit traumatic.
I too had noticed that the volume of my ppo had increased the past years; I had bouts of pain also (spasms, bloating, that firstly - three years ago - led to a IBS diagnosis because I was not bleeding and my colonoscopy and gastroscopy were clear).
With the last « episode » my calprotectin markers were high, so the « scopies » were repeted (they were clear) but then an entero-scan picked up Crohn's. I got a call from my GP this morning telling me that it's in my ileum - distal (6 cm).
I was wondering if you are on medication now ? How are you feeling ? I really hope you are all better.
