Headed for PTN? Mysterious high volume bulky stools daily following infectious colitis

Rather worried. A bit of a long story. Part 2 was some infectious agent that caused. 39.7 degrees fever followed by severe diarrhea. CT scan found it caused proctocolitis. Now it gets strange (?) Immediately following diarrhea cessation was abnormal bulky high volume stools. A few times a day for first couple days then settling into once per day every day Basically volumr wise seems like everything i eat leaves and inam unable ti gain any weight. It has been 4 weeks. My BMI is extremely low which leads to Part I

For six months before the onset of this infectious agent which I think is completely unrelated to this unfortunate incident is, I had six months of chronic loose stools which weight loss of 10% of my body weight in six months Stool testing seemed to rule out, pancreas, Celiac, giardia, parasites, bacteria, viruses, and IBD. I suspect food related in some undefined way/ i seem to have very sensitive mast cells plus an AI rheumatic disease.

Because of the weight loss from part 1i, my bmi dropped from already thin to downright scary 13.5. So i have no reserves to weather this storm, whatever on earth this is I am very concerned that with the output equals input i am now not absorbing even macronutrients let alone micronutrients

I asked a couple of people I know who have had colitis if they ever had these large bulky high-volume stools, following an acute attack, and neither of them have a room ever heard of anything like it

Anyone heard of anything like this? The high volume formed bulky stools daily following infectious colitis? Might that on top of the bouts of chronic diarrhea have done something atypical ?

Physicians are useless They are telling me to eat more calories!

Would be grateful for help. Getting extremely worried.

Thanks.

Hi, sorry you are going through this. If your BMI is 13 you should go to the hospital ER etc and you can be given calories via some other way intubation etc. Don't suffer a second longer than you have to and don't take no for an answer bring a friend/partner/family member and don't leave the hospital until you are on the way to recovery. You can worry about diet once you are bulked up a bit. Ignore any doctor that isn't giving you the treatment you deserve.

Seein a rheum in person on mondsy for firdt time sunce pandemic- ive had a knee go a bit berserk since the GI infection and i think it may be related

If in doubt head to the ER. They will have the ability to get calories into you and have the specialists there to make sure you are looked after. Look after yourself and take care.

When i went to ER with the GI infection, they did not admit me despite the weight.

Go to another ER and don't stop till you get the treatment you need.

well im not realky eager to get PTN. Once i go down that route I'm closer to being a full time invalid. Eg risknof sepsis is high.

It is your choice but I know someone on PTN who has stayed relatively healthy for 30 years and just set up a major Art exhibit. At least get yourself some better medical advice and don't stop until you are feeling ok.
