More on nonspecific inflammation

As stated in an earlier post, in July 2017 I had a colonoscopy. They found “1. Small haemorrhoids 2. Non-specific inflammation in the sigmoid colon (acute and chronic inflammatory cells) and 3. Mild active inflammation in the rectum.”

A few weeks ago, I had a calprotectin test which came back with normal reading of 11.3mcg/g indicating that inflammation is not present. I spoke to the consultant’s secretary to ask for clarification of what all this meant and she replied that the consultant had said that “in your case there is no diagnosis” but “you haven’t got diverticular disease”. I said, but there is not much else apart from IBD and diverticular disease which causes that sort of chronic inflammation to which she “not necessarily “. She then said that I could have a chat with the consultant in a couple of months if I wanted a more detailed, repeating that “there was no diagnosis”. Does anyone know what all this means? How likely is it that I have got IBD which is lying low (I don’t currently have any symptoms)?
