Hi, I am waiting for a colonoscopy for suspected ibd. On codeine and helped as long as I eat only toast, pasta & potato. Tried to introduce white fish or chicken but diarrhea comes back very severely. I can't find anything about this online. Getting a bit weak without protein been a month! Any advice or reason for this would be so helpful thanks

I know I have been diagnosed with colitis & doesn’t matter what I eat my stomach is always the same. Been like it over 4 years now. Had all the meds & nothing changes. Sometimes I take the odd codeine but they make me feel so sick. It’s very difficult. I can really sympathize with you. Mine is so severe I have days when I’m in continent & going out worries me so much. Hope you get your colonoscopy soon & they come up with a diagnosis & able to treat you. Best of luck x

aww thank you so much for replying. wow u are so brave - i feel so sorry for you how have u coped 4 years? I have the leakage too I literally don't go out anywhere I really feel for u. how can they not have anything for u. could u try a private clinic? the codeine are horrid aren't they but i have no choice but to take at this stage - it was unbearable! i find the side effects got better after a couple of weeks. thank you - i hope something turns up for you too. Take care x

The trouble is I have lots of problems ie kidney transplant, lupus & immune sufficiency. I take steroids among lots of other stuff. So all the meds they gave me affected my other problems so it is the lesser of all the evils. I was so bad I paid private in the beginning. The only answer for me was having a colostomy bag & that wasn’t advised because of the kidney & infections. It’s a nightmare with this bowel thing. It really makes my nerves bad. So I know how you feel x

Have you been tested for Coeliac disease. It's worth while getting a blood test done, you got nothing to lose. 😌

thanks for suggestion - i had a neg test ten years ago. i recently did dr chris steele's (from this morning) home test. it is ttg. the first was a very faint line so ate more gluten & retested it was negative. can they tell from colonoscopy?

Yes they can. A biopsy is taken. My blood test came back positive.and then got biopsy. It was positive for Coeliac disease.😛
